Lehigh 2024 RD

I searched for an already established thread but did not find one. Apologizing in advance if it does already exist. I was expecting a decision next month but DD20 received advanced notification of her admission today. Very excited! Anyone else out there?

@Sarrip Congrats! How was she notified? Seems really early.

I was accepted yesterday and was invited to apply to participate in Diversity Life Weekend in April. I also got $44,000 a year. I am super excited!

Yes, much earlier than expected. She was sent an email.

@kaahanui- Congratulations to you!

Congratulation!!!
Could you please share your STATS?

@Villa2024 - I am never ready for this request (which I should be by now) because I do not have any stats for my daugher documented & ready to cut and paste. I will see if I can put it together and come back to post.

@Sarrip Congratulations to your daughter! By any chance, was she invited to Diversity Weekend as well? I ask because my son did not receive an email. We’re hoping that this early invitation only went to diversity candidates because otherwise it does make one wonder…Thanks for any insight you can provide.

@1stTimeThruMom - Yes, she was invited. Unfortunately she will not be attending. Her performing arts senior trip is that weekend and we committed months ago to hotel reservations, broadway show tickets etc so we have to decline. Years ago my son did a diversity weekend at JHU and Princeton and enjoyed it so much. It helped him make his decision.

Thank you for replying! Now we can stop worrying (for the time being).

@1stTimeThruMom in addition I should have mentioned that we only have until Monday to RSVP for Diversity weekend so I guess time was of the essence.

@Sarrip Did your DD’s email simply say her decision is available on her portal, or was it more detailed? I’m pretty sure Lehigh does not normally send individual emails out for decisions, so it makes sense that yours was related to Diversity weekend.

Hi @1stTimeThruMom Lehigh will normally announce roughly a week ahead of time (via Twitter, Instagram, and maybe even an email) that decisions will be released “soon”, and tell you to make sure you have set up your portal, etc. Decisions are usually released sometime the following week, usually (but not always) on a Friday after 5. They generally try to get decisions out earlier than later - so hopefully by March 13 - but sometimes things don’t go as planned. I believe that this year’s EDI decisions were due to be released on a Friday, but as the result of some problem within admissions, decisions were not released for several more days. Your decision could actually be up on the portal for several days before they send out a general email saying decisions are posted. Moral of the story - get ready for some OPC (Obsessive Portal Checking) starting in about two weeks!

@Yocco2 this is it:

Dear XXXX,

Congratulations! On behalf of Lehigh University’s Office of Admissions, I am excited to offer you admission to the Lehigh University Class of 2024. You have been selected from an incredibly competitive pool of applicants for admission and are also among a small cohort of students chosen to receive advanced notification of our decision and an invitation to apply to participate in Lehigh’s Diversity Life Weekend.

Diversity Life Weekend is an overnight program that gives high-achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to spend a weekend on campus interacting with current students, sitting in on classes, and networking with Lehigh alumni. Diversity Life Weekend participants will stay with current Lehigh students and meals will be provided for the duration of the weekend. Additionally, Lehigh will cover the cost for each participant’s plane or bus ticket.

We are inviting you to apply to participate in this year’s Diversity Life Weekend taking place Friday, April 17, 2020 through Sunday, April 19, 2020. Interested students must submit their personal Diversity Life Weekend Application and Parent Agreement form no later than 11:59 PM EST on Monday, March 2, 2020 to be considered. Please note that space is limited for this program, and submission of a DLife application is not a guarantee of attendance at the event. Students will be notified of their final DLife participation status by Friday, March 13, 2020.

If you have applied for need-based financial aid, your financial aid notification will be emailed to you shortly after this email. Please review your financial aid notification with your family before you submit the application and Parent Agreement Form. If you have any questions on your financial aid package, please feel free to reach out to your financial aid counselor. Your official Lehigh acceptance packet, which will contain more details about your admission to Lehigh, will be mailed at the end of March.

Again, congratulations on your admission to Lehigh University, and I look forward to hosting you during Diversity Life Weekend. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Castro, Director of Diversity Recruitment, or Kailen Richmond, Admissions Counselor, at LUDiversity@lehigh.edu.

Best regards,

Bruce Bunnick
Director of Admissions

I was hoping to be admitted for that visit program ?

@gmarie1112 - So sorry. We didn’t even know about it but unfortunately my daughter can’t go because of another obligation. Wish you could take her place. Good luck on decisions.

do we think decisions could be released this friday?

What makes you say this friday?

This Friday is probably too optimistic, unfortunately. Just went back through last year’s RD thread, and many were expecting the decision on Friday, 3/22/19 since the previous two years releases - I did not confirm this - were on the 4th Friday of March (3/24/17 and 3/23/18). However, they weren’t actually released until Wednesday, 3/27/19. If the 4th Friday of March is still the “standard,” Friday, 3/27/20 would be the actual target. Hopefully they are (much) earlier this year, but probably not wise getting hopes up based on past experiences. More realistic early release date is probably more like 3/20/20. Also unlikely anything will happen until after an email and/or Twitter announcement goes out indicating “Decisions are coming soon,” which hasn’t happened yet.

But all of this is under ordinary circumstances. Still unknown: the effect of potential coronavirus precautions, cancellations, and/or quarantines on the whole process. Much can happen over the next few weeks. Crazy.

things changed on the portal…is this a good sign?

@Luckyjade2024 What changed? I didn’t notice anything different.
