Which school is easier to get into and why? What is difference in criteria for admission? Thanks.

Arts and Sciences is easier, because it just is, I can't explain to you why.

Engineering is way harder than either...ave. SAT scores for Arts and Crafts is like mid1200's, Business and Econ probably 1300's, Engineering probably 1400's.

Is there a difference in GPA requirements? Heard 3.5 avg. for A&S, 3.8 for B&E -- Any particular ECs helpful for B&E?

Thoughtprocess, tried to check out your website & got immediately quarantined because of a bad virus. FWIW --

Although the averages are higher for engineering I was told that the acceptance rate wasn't alot lower... ie the higher average isn't from a higher number of students applying but from a high LEVEL of students applying. FWIW

Anovice....did you hear from Lehigh yet? Please be sure to let us know!

A chair at lehigh told me that the average GPA's and scores are higher at engineering, but the admissions rate is only slightly lower than that of the business and arts/science school.

For Business and Economics, they like to see good math scores. They have a pretty strong economics program. EC's would probably be things like business clubs or student council - pretty normal activities that show pursuit in those areas.

collegeparent, what type of virus do you have?

Thoughtprocess, just accessed your website without a quarantine or virus warning -- must have gotten rid of it -- nice site, BTW -- and thanks for help with Lehigh -- what about a 3.5 student (1 AP), 620 math (590 verbal), Jaycee pres (HS chapter), two sport captain in the business school? Econ probable major. I'm figuring wait-list.

rogracer- no, and honestly I don't have much hope anymore. I like lehigh, but IF I get in it will by such a small piece of thread that I will get no merit money/grants and I just can't justify the cost of the school. I've realized that I just can't morally spend 160K over fours years on just the basics of my education.

Thank for the encouragement...

I agree....it's difficult to justify spending such a large amount of money on an undergraduate engineering degree....at least for normal families with normal incomes. The good news is that, as long as you go to a good, solid school for your undergraduate degree, and you do well....say a 3.5 or better....you likely have a choice of admissions at top graduate schools....most likely with a full ride. Engineering is great that way....there are significant research dollars around, unlike many other fields of study. Just to encourage you a little more....we have 2 co-op students from UCF...a so-called "third tier" school...and both just got full-ride admissions to graduate school at MIT. So don't get lost in this nonsense you hear on these boards about needing to go to a top-flight undergraduate program. There are plenty of options that will suffice at the undergraduate level.

Still, I hope Lehigh comes thru for you with some aid and you can go. Its Structure's program is fantastic. If not, I'm sure things will out great for you anyway.

hey guys,
I have appiled to lehigh for ED2. hoping to get my result in 2-3 days. wht abt u pepl? neways...
best of luck.

kushal -- to what school? And what were your stats?

Dear sir,
I have applied to Lehigh's Interdesciplinary Integrated Business and Engineering course. Since it is the toughest course to get into hence I have applied for the school of arts and sciences as my second choice. My sat's
SAT 1: 1270
SAT II: 700,710,540 (P,M,W)
I am doing IB diploma from a United World College. My score is 38 on 42.
Subjects are:
Physics HL
Chemistry HL
Economics HL
Hindi HL
Biology SL
English A1: SL
Math: SL.
Lehighs representative visited my campus this summer: Eric wienhold. He told me that I was a straong candidate as far as my IB scores are concerned. Being a UWC student was a Huge benefit as well, he told me. The only thing that he said might be troublesome was my SAT 1. I am expecting my decision neday now. Maybe any hour. Lets see what happens...
Good day.

And it's not possible to switch from Arts & Science -> Engg. / Business & Econ?

I think its possible, though not easy. One can do that as a special case depending on performance, availability of seats, application etc..
