Yeah…no…I got a 1500 dollar loan

hi guys.
i received a decent package. My expected contribution was $2000 per year.
I received:
$4000 loan per year
$2000 workstudy
$45800 grant-international per year

All i need to pay is my transportation, books and supplies, and personal expense
But i need to pay The Engineering college fee $440.
I’ve requested them to waive this fee, hope they do…

But they didnt say anything about summer.
I guess i’ll have to go any of cc user’s home to stay…lol

Decent? That’s a FANTASTIC financial aid package, especially for an ED student. Usually, ED students don’t receive as much FA as regular decision students do because universities feel no need to entice the ED students with extra financial aid.

Congrats to all accepted students. I’m a freshman at Lehigh now, you’ll all love it.

Hey guys! I wasn’t sure if I could afford it, but we just got the financial aid letter on Christmas Eve, and it turned out better than we had hoped!

:D

At first we saw what they were giving us, and we were like, “uh… this is not enough… by a lot” O.O

…but then we realized it was broken down by semester and we needed to double it.

same thing happened with me.
I was too surprised to see it was so less but i realised that it was broken into semesters…

arent the EDII applicants going to post anythin? This thread is dying!!

I guess I am confused…those of you that already got financial aid…I thought those forms arent filled out until first of the year…This is my first time doing this and there is a lot to learn…

The financial aid with EDI applicants required the CSS profile and last year’s tax returns (see their website for the full list).

You’re right. FAFSA and other forms are not available until next year, however using the other papers, Lehigh provided an estimate package. It won’t be finalized until you file the official forms, however they need the rough numbers so EDI students can decide whether they can afford attending or need to apply elsewhere.

I applied RD. I still have to wait like 3 months :(

I really wanted to apply to Lehigh, but they don’t offer much merit aid. I like how colleges think that because my parents make so much money it means that I don’t need to qualify for need-base aid. From what I’ve seen on the web the average merit award for those who don’t qualify for need aid is only 10K… So they want me to take out 40K in loans each year…
I really wish that colleges would change this because I really like Lehigh’s integrated engineering/ business program
Has anyone seen anything else about merit aid?

OMG guys! After reading the entire thread, I became so nervous! I applied RD Computer Engineering! I’m an international student! I will be really glad to keep in touch with those who got accepted or waiting for their decision! P.M. me if one wishes to talk on facebook) Good luck to all those who are waiting for the decision!!

I applied RD. I’m an international from Serbia :D

Good Luck EDII’s and RD’s! :]

@trinitian would you mind posting some of your financial aid stats like single parent vs 2 parents or how many siblings you have and how many are in college… etc
you have an awesome packaga and im ondering what kind of financial background you need to get something even close to that. i really want to go to lehigh im just concerned about financial aid.
if this is too personal a question, i understand.

Ana, I would not encourage anyone to provide such personal infomation on a public site like this or via PM for that matter. Financial Aid is based on the EFC you get when you do your FAFSA. Here is a site where you can plug in rough numbers and get a quick estimate:
[Estimate your EFC](<a href=“College Planning - Make a Plan For College | Sallie Mae”>EFC - Expected Family Contribution for Financial Aid Eligibility| Sallie Mae)

Factors involved - Income, parents marital status, number of siblings, number of siblings attending college etc…

@anagreen93: i got such a huge aid because i am an international student. i am the only one from my family to go to Lehigh.

@trinitian I really hope that I will get such an aid too.))

@trinitan: I guess you’ll bring one of your family after 2 years :)

seems like no one is using this thread anymore :(

@Expeliarmus I believe it is caused by the fact that everyone is waiting for the response from the university! I think that is thread will “burn” in the end of march and in the following after the decision months!

I agree I think it’ll pick up again once people find out if they’re in or not. I check it everyday or so for new posts, so it’s not completely dead. Just waiting for new people or any questions.

Speaking of which, a brochure I got when visiting says there is usually an accepted students day in April or so. Anyone know anything about this? I’d love to go and visit again!

My friend actually just got accepted to a school in that area too and was just in Bethlehem for her “Early Decision Students Day” or something like that. She said everything was so pretty covered in snow :)
