Lehigh class of 2015

WOW reading this thread made me even more excited for my decison, speaking of which does anyone know when decisions will be posted.

oh and i’m also an international student (jamaica) applied RD for Biology.

@dreampuddle: I am an international student from Nepal. I so wish I could visit colleges I want.

Expeliarmus - Lehigh has an active International program, so there may be options available to you - I am pretty sure they have an accepted students meet and greet in Napal, at least I thought I saw it on the list last year. I would contact the International Center and see what the option are if you cannot travel to Pa.

^mumof2boyz: its Nepal not Napal. :frowning: sadness!!!

typo sorry

@Experliarmus: Visiting really helps for getting a feel for the campus. I could deff. see myself going there, unlike some other schools I visited. If you enjoy old beautiful stone buildings, lots of trees and ivy, yet with a bit of a city vibe, you’ll love it. In my opinion, the center of the campus feels like it’s own world. When I first visited, it didn’t seem like all the pictures I’ve seen online; however, once you go inside and see the other side, it’s amazing.

I know sometimes it’s hard not being able to visit, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed with this one, haha. Out of all the ones I visited, I liked Lehigh the best.

@DMA017: I think you find out April 1st :)

^^do share more about lehigh…its my top priority   :D

@mumof2boyz I think that even if Lehigh can somehow organize meeting in Nepal, there is no such option for my country (Moldova), since Lehigh is one of my top priorities schools it kind of makes me sad not to be able to talk to a representative (I’m not talking here about phone calls, skype or other IMs). :(

By the way, are there any gamers here? (Any type: computer gamer, card gamer, etc.)

Oh and one more thing how many of you practice debates??

^^vladic007 fifa gamer…no debates :'(… I have no eloquence!!!

^^expeliarmus dota gamer here! Quite bad that no debates((

Did anyone read the article on the Admissions Office blog, called "Closing in on the Class of 2015… ".

I found one quite interesting line. “…What that means though is that at the end of round one (which concluded this past weekend), we have roughly 2200 too many offers on our system…”. As I understood that from the 10k applications (last year stats) they accept 38% (3,8k applicants) and having “roughly 2200 too many offers” in means that there are 6k applicants left and they said good bye to 4k already!
They are quite fast. Interesting will they be able to finish everything and send the results at least to some before the 1st of April?

@vladic007: I love computers  I play the Sims (3), Roller Coaster Tycoon, and other simulation games like that. I also still have a bit of a guilty obsession with pokemon… is that bad? haha.

I’m actually in the process of trying to code my first point and click game, but I don’t have flash, so I’m attempting to use Ren’Py. I also like pretty much any other games too, including sports.

@Expeliarmus: I was only there a few hours, so we didn’t everything, but here are some other things I noticed. When you first drive into the area, you cross a river and see some old buildings, mostly houses, with a couple small shops, restaurants, and factories. The area doesn’t seem the most friendly, however it seem kinda quiet. Driving a few blocks towards the hillside, you pass a couple really cool looking castle-like buildings. I think they’re churches, but I forget.

As I’ve said before, just driving around on the outer edge, it feels a lot like a city/town campus. Most of these buildings look new, so it doesn’t seem like all the pictures you see online. However, after we parked in their parking garage, we walked into the main building to wait for our tour. This was the ivy covered stone building. When you walk in, they have a bunch of flags hanging from the tall ceiling and I think there was a spiral staircase… I can’t remember exactly.

Anyways, once our tour started, we walked out the back doors of the building and it was so pretty. You loose sight of the city behind the campus buildings and there is so much grass and a long walkway covered with trees. The whole rest of the way up the hill is the same feeling, so it really does seem that the campus is secluded on the hill. Despite the area, I felt like I’d be safe.

:)

The campus is one of the most beautiful we saw and we looked at Duke, Princeton, Dartmouth, Cornell etc… As Dreampuddle has stated, when you enter the administration building, waiting for your tour and that back door opens, wow, it takes your breath away. I compare it to the Wizard of Oz when the door opens to the beauty and color of Oz. The grounds are beautifully manicured, lot of trees, flowers, artwork everywhere. Beautiful old hogwarts style buildings. Adirondack chairs scattered amongst the shade trees. My son did not like Bethlehem, but honestly, rarely leaves campus - there is so much to do!

OMG! OMG! Did you say its like that of Hogwarts??? ■■■■!!!
I am having the flashback!!! Awesome, ain’t it?

And yes, I can imagine how Lehigh is. Arghhh… I am so so so envious!!!

^^vladic007 You certainly seem to be awesome in debates!!!

By the…how many of you guys and gals out here play ** CRICKET **?

@Experliarmus: It definitely does look like a second Hogwarts… When we first got there, we were driving around and saw a sign that said “Gryphon Housing” or something like that, and ever since, my parents don’t call it Lehigh; It’s Hogwarts to them. We later found out the RA’s are called Gryphons, but still.

…and I’ve never played Cricket.

:)

^expeliarmus well I play quite a lot! And I will certainly continue debating in Lehigh’s Debate Team (an US debating coach told me that lehigh has quite a good team, so this basicly was one of the reason I decided to apply to Lehigh)

I would really like to learn to play Cricket. The problem is that in my native country there noone plays cricket so as a result I never practiced it and neither baseball. :(

^^ HOGWARTS??? WOWWW I cant wait to reach there…

HOGWARTS!!!
I so fughingly want to go Lehigh…I seriously do…
I can imagine how Harry and Ron and Hermoine used to roam around the dorms…
does the staircases move (hahaha)???
And btw does Lehigh have Quidditch???
I mean Occidental college has so nonchalantly added Quidditch in their sports…
hahaha…Its so intriguing…and intimidating at the same time…

If I get in Lehigh…I gonna teach all of ya CRICKET!!! :D

Hmm… the list of clubs and organizations doesn’t say anything about Quidditch, haha. I’ve played over 10 years of Softball though, so I’ll always be up for a game of catch ^_^

…and I can’t say for sure, because I’ve only seen inside a few of the buildings, but Expeliarmus and Trinitian, don’t get too excited. Most of the insides of the buildings have been well kept and modernized. From what I can remember, only a few of the buildings such as the Library, the Memorial Building, and a few other seem to have kept their castle-like charm in the interior. Also, most of the buildings are only one or two stories, so there won’t be a huge hall filled with staircases, haha. The outside is much more Hogwartz-like. :)

Very true Dreampuddle, although the dorms are Hogwarts like on the outside, they are very modern and updated on the inside, as are the classrooms and labs. The Linderman Library is stunning inside and my son loves to study there - it has been so beautifully maintained and has that old world charm. The chapel is also old inside and out and is simply beautiful. There are also ultra modern buildings like STEPS which was recently completed.
