For those ED candidates who did not complete the CSS Profile by the Nov 15th deadline, PLEASE do it today and call the financial aid office Monday morning. By going ED you agree to go to Lehigh regardless of financial aid and by not completing the CSS profile you have indicated to Lehigh that you do not need financial aid. If you cannot pay full price for Lehigh I urge you to make sure this is all taken care of Monday am - I am not sure they will extend it, but it is worth a try. Please do not wait until you are accepted as you are then locked into attending Lehigh with no financial aid.

You need to advise your parents of this situation and get their assistance as this is pretty serious. Good luck!

So just because we didn’t send in our CSS profile and didn’t get notified doesn’t mean we definitely got rejected? I’m not so much worried about financial aid than getting rejected.

@Keeks123: I know, right? It seems like it’d be really redundant to calculate packages for everyone, especially when the acceptance rate is around or under 50%. I’ve talked to a few other people, and they said if it was them, they’d look at it as a good sign. :]

@lvs628: Yeah, haha. I keep telling everyone that I am the only one allowed to check the mailbox the next few days. Yesterday my brother was being a jerk and ran down to the mailbox and I was chasing after him to get there first… only to find it empty. When I got back to my house, my dad was holding a letter from Lehigh (the financial aid one, which I didn’t realize at the time) and I freaked out at him for getting the mail. >_<

@KgMyintHtet: Actually, when I visited campus, they said that financial aid and admission is separate. They stressed that the admissions office doesn’t look at any money issues or financial aid stuff.

@liddleex3renaa: Not sending the CSS Profile DOES NOT mean you got rejected. As I said before, on the tour they said the financial aid and admission offices are separate. It does not effect your chances of admission.

Financial Aid is a separate process from admittance, so not doing the fin. forms has nothing to do with whether or not you are accepted, it has to do with what you will pay. For ED you signed an agreement that if accepted, you would attend, so if you need aid, get this taken care of on Monday.

You will not get notified if you have not filed for financial aid at all, they are going to assume you do not need it. You will only be notified if you have applied for financial aid, but are missing an incidental item.

As I said, call them on Monday and see what can be done and good luck to all, Lehigh is a wonderful school! Once you know if you are admitted, I can answer some of your dorm questions, but I do not want to jinks anyone right now!

" You will not get notified if you have not filed for financial aid at all, they are going to assume you do not need it. You will only be notified if you have applied for financial aid, but are missing an incidental item. "

This was not our experience. We did not file for FA and we were notified that the IDOC was required before our son was notified of his acceptance. All of this in early March, just a few days before RD was announced. It was stressful doing this last minute.

Interesting about the IDOC since Lehigh does not require it of all applicants. I have heard of a few students last year who were asked to do IDOC due to inconisistency between their FAFSA and CSS Profile.

How did the admission stuffs talk about that separate process of admission decision and financial aid?
Is it true for everyone? i mean, including international students like me.
For me, I can’t visit campus but I have frequent contact with admission officer, Laura Stevens. She said:

“Lehigh does admit students in Early Decision with international financial aid. Financial aid is a factor in admission decisions but this is the same in both Early Decision and Regular Decision.”

So, I think it’s the different process for natives and international students. :-(

they did say, but i forgot…
since i’m international, i know letters will arrive here late (incase admitted ), so i didnt care much about the letters…but i think she said the same day or the following day…do u want me to make a call to them once again?? I’ve no problem in calling them…

That’s so nice of you, but no, don’t worry about it! I can call (we live only about an hour from Lehigh!), but I do remember that when I called last week she said the letters would probably go out on the 15th. I just keep hoping it’ll be sooner!

My best wishes to all of you for Wednesday! Just remember, if you are denied or deferred, it may seem like a horrible thing, but it also means that another door has opened. My son did not get into his ED choice last year, but it helped him see his first choice was not a good fit for him and he ended up at the right college for him! He is happy and thriving at Lehiigh.

I applied EDI from NY… it seems like I am right in the range where they accept students, but they haven’t accepted many kids from my school in the past, so I’m hoping ED will give me the extra nudge…

At my school the person who got in by early decision got in with a 94 GPA and a 29 ACT score… I have a 94 GPA and 32 ACT score… However, I think it has gotten slightly harder to get into the past few years… so I still don’t feel very confident haha.

So it looks like 4 P.M on the portal to check?

@fsu0493
we’re sort of in the same boat lol. I am also ED1 from New York, 32 ACT. Ive been in the same position, where I see my scores and they are in target, but then I am still not too confident lol :/.

Good luck to everyone! I hope we all get in!!

Once decisions are released should we create a sample post where people state their stats and their decision?

Hmm… I can’t remember word for word, but in the info session on campus, they said something along the lines of:

“Here at Lehigh, the admissions office and financial aid are completely separate. We don’t see any financial aid papers or deal with any money issues. For most people, this is a good thing, and I’m sure for others maybe not as much, but the financial aid aspect is not an admission decision factor.”

I’m not sure if it’s different for internationals or not, and maybe the admissions offer that day said something wrong to one of us… idk.

I’m assuming the CSS profile and other mailed documents get sent to the financial aid office, while only the application, supplement, letters, etc get reviewed by the admissions office. If I can remember correctly, I think some other colleges ask about money in the actual application. This would make sense that those colleges would consider financial need, while Lehigh does not, as there were no questions about money issues in the common app or supplement.

Oh, and I’m surprised it’s so late this year. From reading past year threads, they were all notified a few days before the targeted Dec. 15 D:

Sure enough, I have band practice after school until 5 on Wednesday… but since I’m not going to check the portal until I find out by mail, I hope the letter is in my mailbox for Thursday.
