Just wanted to create a thread for prospective students that applied both ED and RD.
Any questions, comments, anything future MiddKids want to share can be posted here!

this whole Middlebury section seems sort of dead this year…and I know it’s too much to hope for that nobody else applied ED where is everyone? what are your thoughts?
any other international students here who applied ED??

I think there must be a lot of applicants who are just reading along with the posts and not signing in to post themselves…if this is the case, come on guys!! ;D I applied ED by the way, not international. From Vermont, actually 18 more days seems like an eternity…

I’m not international but I did apply ED.
The days are going by super slow. And after I get my acceptance (fingers crossed) senoritis will set in :(

I am in love with Midd.
I’m from Chicago, 18.

what’s the deal with you guys?

COME ON PEOPLE!!! let’s get this thread a little more exciting.

i just got some stats about ED applications to Midd this year and surprisingly it’s dropped by 8% compared to the number of ED applications last year. So basically its not as “hard” as it was last year to get into midd. but still its hard without doubt:). Good luck.

Dufour - where did you find these stats?! I’d like to see! That’s quite encouraging.

A sigh of relief?
I wonder why it dropped, it’s such an amazing school.
Good Luck to you as well.

Yeah, that’s really odd…8 percent is kind of a lot! It won’t make me feel any better if I’m rejected though… I agree…the next 18 days are going to drag on…

when are you suppose to get a decision by?

we will get the decision on 17th of December 8:00 am EST online. Last year decision was out in 11th of December.

I also applied ED1. Note that the 8% drop in apps is only about 50 apps or so, so it’s not a huge difference. also it doesn’t mean that it will be easier to get into. sure- there will be a little less competition, but they may still only accept a certain percentage out of those that applied ed1

Okay, I just wanted to make sure I had the correct date.

where is everyone from?

Gracieboo and aktaylor1-I’m not applying to midd since I’m already a college student now. i got the stats from one of my friends blog which posts the number of applicants applying ED not just to midd but some other LAC as well.In fact Pomona C has a considerable increase in ED applicants this year(perhaps because it ranks higher than midd a bit this year and also that Harvard reopens its Early admission policy). its still hard to get into midd…good luck! hope u all can get in.

Dufour, thanks for the stats!
I wish you well in your college endeavors.

The early admissions data is from the NYTimes. Here’s a link:

[The Early Line on Early Applications for the Class of 2016 - NYTimes.com](The Early Line on Early Applications for the Class of 2016 - The New York Times)

The numbers only include ED 1, so things may change after ED 2 apps come in.

Hi guys
I hope that 8% drop works in our favor…
Has everyone gotten the chance to do an interview? I was worried that I wouldn’t get one since I’m in Brazil, but I was lucky enough to be contacted by an alumnus who lives in the area.
I’ve also been having a problem with my official score report from College Board, which I sent on Nov. 3rd My application status page still says they haven’t gotten it…I’m getting so anxious I emailed them today saying that it may be because I didn’t put my full name on the SAT, but I think I’m sending rush scores anyway in case they got lost or something…
Anyone else ever had this problem? I go by my middle name and normally put in both my first & middle as “first name” but it didn’t fit on the SAT so I just put the second. I hope this is the case and they find it now that they know…

DMK2008,
I haven’t had any problems. My interview is December 14th.
You should call tomorrow.

What does it mean if I haven’t been contacted for an interview?

I feel like they probably have a set number to accept rather than a percentage, but that’s just a feeling, could be wrong. If I’m right then the 8% drop will work for us.

I think if you haven’t been contacted for an interview it just means that there may not be any alumni near your area. I was emailed directly by the interviewer on 11/17, but I wouldn’t worry. They aren’t required and a friend of mine who was accepted ED last year didn’t have one, though she was offered one; she declined. I was nervous but ended up doing it, and it was relaxed and went really well.

DMK - I’d not only call Midd but also Collegeboard, just in case. My October scores took almost a week to get sent (versus one day for the March SAT), but if that’s the case with you they should have been in in time.

It says the enrollment class will be about 600.
Have any of you visited the campus?
