I’m not the poster your replying to but I had a meeting so I figured I could give some info. I had a meeting on Friday and it went great! 30 minutes and the financial aid officer guided us through everything we needed. I was going through the process for a change in financial circumstances so there was some additional documents I had to submit, but if you send them through LUFileSender they get there in a couple days and safely. One huge positive is the turnaround time is super quick! I was told they review financial aid appeals on tuesdays and Thursdays. So I got accepted last Thursday, had a call Friday, and will be getting a new aid offer tomorrow.
By far the smoothest process of any of my schools and I definitely recommend a call.
I will follow up on this and say that although they were smooth and quick to work with, they were not as generous with my award that I just got back. My families EFC decreased by 30k and they didn’t offer me any more money besides the 15k standard grant, I just don’t see how it adds up there. Wishing you the best of luck in appeals!
I’m really looking for a four year read. Need to get a grasp how much Lehigh will cut my grant foe my daughter when my son isn’t in undergrad!! Thanks for your help and good luck as well.
Sorry to hear that, but actually a $15k grant from Lehigh is a big deal. We couldn’t even get that last year, and so my son had to go elsewhere. Lehigh is great if your family was smart enough - or lucky enough - to sock away $300k for college OR if you have so much financial need you qualify for a Pell Grant OR if your stats are high enough that you qualify for a Trustee Scholarship, which are quite generous.
I possibly replied to you earlier so I apologize if I repeat myself. My D was awarded 43K in grant for Lehigh so it is on the very short list. I love the school so we are carefully weighing this.
My real concern is how much that grant will shrink when my older son graduates and my daughter is the only college student we will have in her junior and senior year.
I have a meeting set up with a FA counselor to get an early read on this.
You may want to fill out the EFC as if she were the only child in college. That should give you a rough idea before you go into your meeting, so you will have time to think it over. Good luck!
