daughter accepted! HALLELUJAH!!! and even better - a super financial aid package! I just can’t believe I can send her to the college of her dreams for a fraction of the cost of a state college. Today is a good day!! Thank you, Lehigh!
@poetrymusiclover Thank you! and Congrats!!
Congrats @mom7834!
congrats to u!!
Did anyone notice when Accepted Students days are?
My D was waitlisted. A bit of a surprise since she’s been accepted everywhere else, but she got into her dream school this morning and has lots to choose from, so no big deal. Congratulations to everyone who got in!
we would like to know as well
@mamahills Pretty sure it is Saturday, 4/11.
We saw the financial aid package on the portal but was wondering if the acceptance letter she will be receiving will include any merit money my daughter might get? There was no mention of merit money on that so we are thinking she might not get any. Is there still a chance of Merit?
Has anyone else been able to get into the “Admitted Student Portal” as noted in the decision window? S went through the steps of creating security questions, PW, etc., but when tries to log on it says account disabled. Is there another step, such as using the LIN (which I assume will be assigned when he gets the letter)? He can still access the original portal and view financial aid, but there is nowhere to pay deposit.
@jessmom23 I got a merit scholarship and it was stated in the financial aid package online.
My kid received the Trustee scholarship which is half tuition. It was also listed under the financial aid section. I was NOT expecting that. When we went through this process the first time ( fairly recently) we were told that all merit awards would be in the acceptance letter and not on the portal. I guess this changed.
I just got an email and I was admitted to the IBE Honors program! This makes things a whole lot more interesting!
How do I tell if I was admitted to the IBE Honors Program? I didn’t see anything on the portal so I assumed I didn’t get in, however I just received an email this morning inviting me to the IBE Honors Preview Day. Any thoughts?
@dadunda I received the same email, and I am pretty sure it’s safe to assume that we were admitted to the IBE!
I was waitlisted, which was a bit of a surprise. I have a 2210 SAT (760W, 690M, 760CR) and a 32 ACT. Weighted GPA is 4.36 and UW is circa 3.87. I am a co-founder of the Entrepreneur club at my school, have played sports all four years, and spent a lot of time and effort on my essays. Could my math score single-handedly bring me down or is the admissions process at Lehigh just really unpredictable? Thanks!
@jordynelson Did you visit or show any interest in Lehigh? If not, they probably thought they were your safety and that’s why they waitlisted you.
I didn’t get a chance to visit but it was one of my top schools especially because they are generous with financial aid, and I tried to reflect my interest in the essays. I did apply to engineering which I forgot to mention and they probably care a lot more about the math score than the other departments.
@jordynelson A kid in my class w/ amazing stats (top 1-2% classrank, many ECs, etc) got waitlisted RD for ChemE; he’s applied to CMU, Princeton, and a ton of other top schools (hasn’t heard back yet). Another kid in my class w/ a 1460 CR+M on SAT & top 10% of class also got waitlisted, for CivilE. They both live near Lehigh (about 1 hr away), so we (friends & I) think it’s because Lehigh wants top students who live near Lehigh to visit it (for interest?), or maybe it’s something else.
Another variable you may not be aware of is that last year Lehigh’s yield rate was much higher than normal, and over 100 more students (over 10%) accepted their offers of admission than they had spots for (explaining why only 2 came off the waitlist). My guess is that they are being much more conservative this year by waitlisting more deserving kids who might have been accepted in prior years. Seems like this is the case at many schools this year, since I see a lot of waitlists for incredibly accomplished students. I can tell you if you want a shot off the waitlist at Lehigh, let them know it is your #1 choice, TALK to your admissions counselor, and if you live within a reasonable distance, VISIT the campus and request an interview with the counselor (go directly to the counselor to request this, not the secretary who might tell you they aren’t doing interviews currently). The counselors DO advocate for those students who make the effort. They really want students who want to be at Lehigh. Best of luck, Lehigh is an incredible place!
