MingmingG: I saw my rejection on my portal.

@InLoveWithLehigh Definitely try again and improving the part of the application that you think was the weakest maybe like ec? you got this next year, keep your head up.

Accepted to Lehigh as a transfer. Quick post of stats
C GPA: 3.9
HS GPA: 3.5
ACT: 29
EC: Lots and Lots
Main reason: Major isn’t offered by current University.

Lehigh is expecting me too take on over 6k in loans and contribute 4000 (1500 in work study). Not sure if I’m going to attend since my EFC is 0, so I’m going to try working it out with the financial aid office. If someone doesn’t mind answering (maybe a current student), does Lehigh include PHEAA grants? It is not in my package while it is at my current school. If I could get a comparable amount in PHEAA from my current state school then I will be attending Lehigh. Good Luck to everyone else!

@futuredoctor24 : I applied as an undergrad last year, and was rejected. I apply again as a transfer, I get rejected. Lehigh is my DREAM SCHOOL. I would go there in a heart beat, but I don’t know what to do now. A lot of people around me thought I was pathetic enough for trying to transfer in the first place. My stats…

High school (weighted) GPA: 4.3
College GPA: 3.5
ACT: 28
EC: A few clubs at college, one which I’m VERY dedicated to, and I volunteer at a local nursing home.
Reason for transferring: I’ve been dying to go to Lehigh. It feels like home when I’m on that campus. I love that school to death and in my essay I stated that nothing will get in my way of going there.

My rec letters were all PHENOMENAL. I even had a rec letter from a US state senator who I am related to. My essay was excellent. I am also a legacy, applying as a mechanical engineer. Female.

It honestly feels like there’s something Lehigh doesn’t like about me, and they’re trying to keep me away from them, or for some reason I’m just not meant to be a student there.

@InLoveWithLehigh I really want to go, but the financial aid package is just a tiny bit out of reach and not affordable. I contacted them today and didn’t get any good news besides transfers usually get less than returning students. Its a difference between 2-3 grand (might be small for some people, but big for others).

I applied as a freshmen as well and was heart broken when I was rejected. I’m actually not sad at my current university. They just don’t have my major and classes sizes are going to triple as my honors course options run out. Try giving your current university an honest chance. Then if you find something that is missing like class size, or a certain subject then IF you try again bring it up.

@futuredoctor24 I mean I get no financial aid from the school I’m at now (YAY massive public universities). I gave it a chance for a year and I want out. All of my classes are massive, all of my professors are awful (except for the ones outside of my major), I hate having to take a bus and go on a highway to get to my classes…I’m just not happy here at all.

I don’t know if I should just suck it up or apply again. Right now I’m especially bitter because this is all fresh…So that will contribute to why I’m coming off so strong on this topic.

Did you apply to any other schools? Did you try contacting admissions and having an honest discussion with them? Was there anything in your recs that might have concerned them? You frankly need to know some of these answers so you can move on. It stinks that you are so unhappy but maybe looking at other schools might be helpful. I’m sorry about your decision, it’s clear how much you love lehigh.

@Britsmum Thanks for your feedback! I actually did not apply to other schools because I felt like if I don’t go to Lehigh, I don’t want to bother transferring anywhere else. When I applied as an undergraduate, I tried to talk to them about my application because my high school made a mistake on my midyear report. It stated that I had failed AP Calculus BC for a marking period, when in reality I was getting an A in the class. The office received my corrected midyear report less than 3 weeks before decisions came out. They told me that it all came down to numbers…Too many people applied for a limited number of spots. I’m going to try and contact them again and see if I have better luck.

After talking to an old high school teacher today who I am very close with, he told me that he thought I would get in, but that I shouldn’t be too disappointed about being rejected because it’s much harder to get in as a transfer student. He also told me there’s no reason why I shouldn’t apply again. I feel a lot better after talking to him, and I’m definitely going to submit another transfer application.

Try to find out who your admission officer at Lehigh is. Ask them what you can do to have a more successful application. Is there something they are looking for that you dont have. It cant hurt to ask.

Hey to be honest, I was in love with Lehigh as a senior in high school. I was really sad when I got my rejection letter and just went with the motto, sucks for them not having me and went to my state university open minded. Hated it the first two months but made some really good friends that I hope to keep for years to come even if I transfer. I applied to transfer because of my academic situation. Moral of the story: Don’t give up on Lehigh, but try looking into colleges or universities that have things you like for example diversity, a particular social thing or etc. You never know you might like it more. HOWEVER, don’t give up on Lehigh. Definitely ask if they can give you tips on what to improve like is there something about your academics, essays,LORS? Good luck and hope to meet you the year after next if I decide to become a hawk!

@Britsmum @futuredoctor24 I emailed the new admissions director at Lehigh about a week ago and I just heard back from him today. Transfer students don’t really have specific admissions officers to my knowledge. Please correct me if I’m wrong on that. He told me that this year, due to a larger than usual freshman class, they could only admit 25-30 students compared to the usual 65-70. He told me while he couldn’t identify any weaknesses in my application, he said to continue to keep my grades as high as possible and build on extra curricular activities. He also told me that they are now no longer accepting transfer applications in the fall and only in the spring. Bummer. I have to wait a whole year yet again.

Overall I’m just pretty sad again. Life has been pretty rough and I was really looking forward to the chance to go to Lehigh because it’s something that I’ve been wanting for quite some time now. It just feels like I keep getting kicked down in every way possible. I know this feeling will pass and that I just need to keep my head up though. It’ll all work out for the best in the long run, I just have to trust in that and try to keep my mind away from the constant negativity. Lehigh is still where I really want to be and I don’t want to look anywhere else and settle on another school. I only applied to Lehigh this time, and I’m definitely only going to apply to Lehigh next time as well. I do not regret that decision one bit.

Yea I just need a tiny bit more money to attend Lehigh which I’m not getting so i don’t know. Missed my deadline. Trying to see If I can get an extension.

@futuredoctor24 So where will you be attending university this fall?
