Leonardtown vs The View/ Varsity

Hey guys, I've been accepted as an international student in the fall semester and want to meet as many people as I can! My home university suggested I go with an apartment and so now I have the option of something like Leonardtown or The View/ The Varsity. Which do you guys like better in terms of price, location, niceness and social scene?

Leonardtown is owned by the university so it falls under Resident Life Housing, meaning you only pay for the room from the start of classes in the fall until the end of classes in the spring. It is located behind fraternity row and is a little bit further away from classes. I lived there many, many years ago in new Leonardtown and it was nice, but old Leonardtown is not as nice (unless they’ve renovated which I am not aware of). The entry to the apartments are directly from the outside to individual apartments - kind of like a motel - with no interior hallways between apartments.

The View/Varsity are privately owned so your rent is a full year and is a more expensive in general and because of the longer lease. The units are very modern and very nice. The entry to the individual apartments is from a shared interior hallway, similar to a hotel. The location is closer to classes and is convenient to engineering/science/math buildings on campus.

Ah okay thanks heaps. I’ve heard that if you live in Leonardtown your social life “drops” - I want to meet as many people as possible. Should I be worried if I end up there or try change out of it now?
