How prominent is the Lesbian/Bisexual community at Wellesley? I am gay and want to be comfortable in my college environment. I also want to be able to find a girlfriend, which I have not been able to do at my current all-girl high school.

I think you would find Wellesley a comfortable environment, from what my D has shared with me. I know some students date fellow students, as well as students at other area institutions.

Wellesley is a very welcoming environment. We were on the Princeton Review’s list of the top 10 most LGBT-friendly schools, and there are lots of organizations devoted to gay/lesbian/bi interests. Many students are “out” and open about their sexuality. Even though I’m straight, it’s nice to be somewhere where the LGBTQ community is welcomed and treated with respect. :)

This is a FANTASTIC place to be for that, we are so accepting of all identifications, it is wonderful

I’ve found the LGBTQ community very welcoming and supportive! I hear about their events and programs all the time. People are very open minded here at Swells.
