Less EC oriented Universities?

I'm primarily a JEE aspirant.Had bleak plans for US applications, and was kind of pushed into it by a couple of classmates.
I dont really have too high targets in this aspect, but I'mnt really the one who would be happy with admission into just any US college.
I would like people here to suggest some Universities(good,"top of the rack" ones preferred, not so hi-fi would do too!),which are less particular about EC records and would be more particular about academic record.(I'm a kid shaped by ideals of perfect Asian parents :p )
I wish to take Physics and mathematics majors.

Any UC school is less EC oriented, but it’s harder to get into them if you’re out of state. Try UC Berkeley and UCLA. Although I really don’t know what their admissions is like for OOS or internationals… Any highly selective college will most likely weight ECs more, but the less selective ones won’t care as much.

Ok…I give a bit more details, which may help people suggest suitable colleges for me
EC:
1.Painting till class 8,I still paint occasionally these days.Appeared for 1st year examinations under Pracheen kala kendra and passed with distinction.I’m good at free hand sketching and animation/comic drawing.
2.Bharatnatyam…I was awful at it.Dont wish to mention it as an EC.
3.North Indian Classical, appeared for second year under Pracheen kala kendra.Passed with first division and stood first from Kharagpur in first year.
4.Essay writing and blogging
5.Newspaper article writing and magazine editing, was a student editor for last year’s school magazine issue.
6.Debate and oratory (Group discussion classes at school)

School:
I am in top 10% of my school.
11th final term-80%
12th mid sem- 62% (I hadnt appeared for several tests, since I was out of station)
hope pre test scores will be more decent

I’m passionate about physics and mathematics.I cleared Regional Mathematical Olympiad last year.I’ll also appear for KVPY,NSEP and NSEA this year.I’m about to take my SAT I in Nov and SAT II in December.

Those are great ECs. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Will they get you into the Ivies? Nobody knows. But it will make you competitive in college admissions. When you say top schools, what do you mean? Name a few that you were thinking of.

I think your ECs are not bad. If you are serious about top schools, you should add some charity or other volunteering work to your EC. For the top schools (the ones that give you need blind aid), honestly you should be in the top 1-5%, with some national level accomplishments. Aim for almost perfect SAT/SATII scores as well.

UCLA/UCB are not just academic. They are very competitive colleges and look at ECs. Moreover, all the public colleges hardly give any financial aid to internationals.

Unless you are super rich or qualify for financial aid in the top Ivies, it is much cheaper/better to finish your undergrad in your own country and then apply to graduate school in the US. There are many assistantships for graduate students. Good luck,
