<p>I live in India and went to a very mediocre high school with a low level curriculum. My parents cannot afford my college education. But i am still hoping to study there by means of financial aid and education loans. Please can u suggest any universities which offer anything concerned with business, finance or economics. My SAT score is 2400. But coz i lost interest my grades are less and i was ill in my finals. Here there is only finals no cumulative tests. Is there any college where i can hope to get?? I can even explain in my essays. Plus due to very low parental income i couldnt afford to take part in EC's , sports etc. But i hav self studied Java, learnt how to develop Android apps.Can i apply to Dartmouth, Colgate, BU, Amherst. Does any college offer 100% financial aid?? Pl advice :)</p>

Dartmouth and
MIT.
They give you financial aid with respect to your financial condition, even If it means getting 100%aid + other living expenses. But they are very very selective.</p>

<p>You are right the rich kids go to US Universities, BUT NOT IDIOTS, on the contrary they are a pretty competitive lot, unfortunately they are not eligible for merit scholarships as International students. </p>
<p>They get selected out of a huge pool of applicants sometimes 45000+ for a class of maybe less than 5k students. Which is roughly 10-15% acceptance rate and Internationals contribue 10% towards diversity in a class. And in that number again, Indian Students are competing with all other Global International applicants in terms of diversity number and the whole group of 40k+ in terms of eligibility- GPA, SATs, ECs, Essays… So definitely not idiots.</p>
<p>The point I am making is it is not wise to make comments like these on public forums. It just magnifies one’s ignorance and gives others a chance not to take you seriously which I am sure you do not want. So let us be civil with our language/vocabulary.</p>

<p>Most of them head that way because our system in India does not cater for students who thoroughly engage themselves in extra-curriculars and fail to get 100-something %.</p>
<p>By the way NextBuffet the definition of rich is also subjective. Being able to afford or taking out loans does not make one rich per se. It would also depend on individual household’s priorities. I thought “rich” needed a clarification too along with the other adjective used to describe the Indian student heading to US for college.</p>
<p>He/She is also unaware of the fact that the Indian Middle-Class is making much more money than ever before and prioritizing education.</p>
<p>Its a HE and forget abt it(RICH ppl). Who cares and Indian middle are not emcouraged to study and there are no avenues. Plus there is no encouragement whatsoever for sports. Indian education system is itself waste. The question of spending money doesnt ARISE in a case where ppl are first of all poor. Nobody takes loans becoz of the collateral. </p>
<p>Bottomline is its tough here and u will know how it is only if YOU live in a middle class family in India.</p>
