Less focus on what might have been, and more focus on what can be.

^took the quote from another thread.
So far I've applied to 6 schools-- 3 safeties (accepted to all), 3 reaches. I've been deferred at 2/3 EA (Georgetown and Chicago), and I'll find out about Duke in the spring.
After a full 24 hours of moping and shoving chocolate in my face, I'm trying to move on and focus on what can be. I need more schools... my list just feels incomplete. I want to apply to places that I'd love to attend in the fall, even if they aren't my original top 3. The thing is, I have TWO DAYS-- two days to get those teacher rec's/transcripts/gc rec under control before christmas break!!!!
I want places that are matches-- between chicago and my state U. Please HELP!!

Stats rundown:
4.0 UW
33 ACT
2240 SAT superscored
2/90 rank

school preferences: intellectual, active campus, friendly, not hot weather 24/7/360, research opportunities, not TOO conservative/liberal (a mix would be nice)

Thank you!!!

bump! It's an emergency!

What about Wesleyan U. in CT? It seems to match your criteria and you'd
likely get in.

Hopkins?
Richmond?
Vanderbilt?

Washington University in St. Louis

thanks! I'm adding WUSTL and JHU to my list! I'll definitely look up Wesleyan... I love New England.

Rice And, no, it is NOT hot all year. Sounds like a fit for you. The huge medical complex is right across from campu with tons of research opportunities.

What are your safeties? None of those schools are real matches even with your numbers. Especially this year. JHU ED would have been a good shot but RD, umm, premed, even bigger ummm. Aspiring premed kids have it tough. I suggest something like Villanova unless your three other schools include schools of that level. Or possibly CMU or Case Western.

I thought of Rice immediately, also. How about University of Rochester? George Washington U? Barnard if female. Vassar. Wake Forest. Carnegie Mellon.

cptofthehouse-- my safeties/backups are Ohio State, Case Western, and the University of Vermont. I'm already in at all three, so that's nice. I just found out that Case is giving me a pretty sizable scholarship, so I won't have to go to OSU. I know JHU is a reach; I might as well try to get in to the best school that I can. I'm not doing premed though... did I give that impression?

Thanks for all the advice!

Why keep looking when you have a nice scholarship offer from Case? What is wrong with Case btw ?

Nothing is wrong with Case, it's just not my first choice. I made this thread before I knew about the scholarship; without it, there's no way I could go to Case.
