less selective NYC schools?

i believe my GPA is around mid 3.0.. what schools should i look at?

SUNYs, CUNYs

thanks

St. John’s maybe?

Manhattan College, Pace, Fprdham if you have good SAT scores, Sarah Lawrence

@ Whenhen - the OP has posted her scores. She is not competitive at Fordham or Sarah Lawrence. I suggested Wagner, but she wants Manhattan. I don’t know where else besides Pace or Marymount to suggest. I would have suggested other close-in suburban colleges is she were interested.

what’s so special about manhattan anyway? Queens/Brooklyn are only a 20 min commute from the city. You might be limiting your options. Just a thought.

What can you afford? What are your SATs? What do you want to study? Cheapest options might be the CUNY schools which are in Manhattan as well as the boroughs. Private schools Manhattan that I can think of quickly include Fordham Lincoln Center (still may be a reach), Pace, New School. In the outer boroughs you have Fordham -Rose Hill, St. Johns, Manhattan, LIU Brooklyn, Pratt, Wagner.that I can think of offhand. In the suburbs you have Manhattanville, Iona, Sarah Lawrence, Iona, Hofstra, Adelphi to name a few. This is something you should be able to research pretty quickly. I found this in two seconds using google.

The OP gave her statistics elsewhere. Her 3-score SAT is under 1400, and her GPA is in the 3.0 range. Fordham and Eugene Lang-New School are probably out of reach. I think Lang might be test-optional, but I doubt that she would be competitive there even applying without the test scores. It could be worth a try, though. My son had a 2060 SAT score, but spotty academic record, and he was turned down two years ago. They have grown more selective in recent years, and are known for being “self-selecting” - they have a relatively high acceptance rate, but most of their applicants “fit” the college.

There are no private NYC colleges that you would get into aside from Pace and LIU Brooklyn. I am assuming you are only looking at schools within the 5 boroughs. LIU Brooklyn is Downtown Brooklyn which is literally just a bridge away from Manhattan. Aside from that, you can apply to the CUNYs, but they are becoming increasingly competitive.

Try Iona and Adelphi as well.
