I love the marching bands, too! One of my kids was at the Michigan game yesterday and I watched ND last night. Hoping to get to a couple of college games in person- I’m all about a good tailgate
Me too! Watched the NU marching band yesterday while they were practicing!
I had my purdue sweatshirt on; maybe I’m the jinx
This was the only reason I was watching a game!
I follow Ohio State because I grew up in Columbus, and USC because I’m an alum. Being a Bay Area resident, I’m very unhappy with USC going to the Big 10 unless Stanford and Cal end up going along. I kinda follow Toledo and Middle Tennessee State because my kids went there.
I don’t understand them joining the Big Ten. Oh yea, Money… But I would also like the Big Ten to be Ten schools…
I found Penn State joining to the Big Ten to be a stretch, and then came Rutgers and Maryland. Now, we have USC and UCLA - just doesn’t feel right. But I am an old foggie.
On a brighter note, NU beat UN in Dublin last week. While not a season made, it’s a good start. Would have attended if I weren’t in Japan.
To me the Big Ten was always Midwestern mentality, hard work and friendliness growing up. You always knew you were mostly going to get a good game out of Big Ten teams. I don’t know how their going to have teams play on the west coast then be back in the Midwest for school. These are student athletes. I think sometimes we forget their students.
Agreed. I was thinking the same about Rutgers vs UCLA games, come 2024.
You can’t make this horrible football list up. Our family’s alma maters are:
Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Arizona, and Virginia Tech. We lived in Bloomington, so Indiana is Top 6 as well.
A good weekend is literally 2 wins! I challenge anyone to have that bad of a Top 6 to cheer for.
Right there with you on Vanderbilt. We’re long-time, long-suffering season ticket holders. At least we’re starting this season 2-0 before Wake comes to town next weekend
The LSU/Florida State game was a humdinger!
I mentioned S’s school joining the Big 10, but as a person who grew up in Illinois I am known to refer to the 10 original schools as the “real Big 10”.
Ooo…right there with you regarding Virginia Tech. It’s spouse’s alma mater so we loosely follow them. There is a lot more yelling at the tv when we watch them play. I’d love to visit Blacksburg for a game though.
The Badgers got off to a solid start, though it was against Illinois State – so the result was expected. We’ll learn more next week against Washington State, a 1A team with a pulse.
The D preserved a shutout and Mertz (QB) and Braelon Allen (RB) looked great. Allen is a beast – the next great Badger tailback.
My ND alum huaband was sad to see ND lose…but happy to see LSU go down (not that he holds a grudge LOL).
I don’t want to post our list, but, trust me, we’ve got you beat. A DIII school for starters, a horrible DI program AND Vanderbilt is there, too. In good news, dh and I have both worked at UT, the real one, so that’s what we claim as our college football allegiance. I’ve watched the 2006 Rose Bowl an embarrassing number of times.
The game day atmosphere in Blacksburg is fantastic even when the Hokies are this bad.
Any team that makes those flea infested mountain cats run for their dear lives gets my . So go Badgers.
That’s one of the things that makes VT great - the Hokie spirit and love for the school runs deep!
They lost so many players and have almost a whole new coaching staff. They’ve got to do a lot of rebuilding - let’s just hope it’s not a “rebuilding decade”!
