I have a sister who loves really nice purses. Every so often, she needs to clear out her collection, and she gives the cast offs to my youngest sister, my daughter and me. We sure have gotten some nice bags from her. Nothing overly extravagant, but I’ve gotten some nice Michael Kors, and similar from her. She takes very very good care of these bags!
I love the idea of red! I bought a red Gucci last year and have absolutely loved it. And of all my bags, that is the one I get the most compliments. I have no red clothing at all, but it gives a great pop of color with black, blue and white outfits.
I always have one of those bag hooks in my bags so I can hang them. I’ll look later and try to post a larger version I keep in my tote bags.
I’m not one to splurge on purses. (I used to feel bad occasionally spending $60 at Kohls. In recent years I seem to just use the same small black canvas travel bag, more of an oversized wallet … but big enough for glasses). But while stuck at home it has been really fun to look at the links. And educational too… had no idea that handbags could be so pricey. It gave me a chance to tell hubby how lucky he is that it is not my thing… which is good, since I have other areas that I spend a lot where he just grins and nods.
The purse hook ideas were really great! Perhaps I can get some as Christmas gifts. I’m always looking for things that are fun and small/light (cheap to ship).
Channeling Mr. Bean from Love Actually,” oh, this is so much more than a purse”!
As a follow-up to my earlier post, the character played by Rowan Atkinson would never deign to use the word “purse” in this context. The quote is, “This is so much more than a bag.” ?

even in non-pandemic times, the meaning of handbags takes up a lot of space in my head
and, of course, lots of men play the game, too. my sons, for instance.
My wife and daughter have a few Louie’s. They love them, get compliments and take great care of them.
Here’s a handbag holder I keep in my tote bags and larger purses.
I keep one like @Singersmom07 mentioned in my smaller bags. But I often carry tote bags and the Clipa works well for heavier items. And it doesn’t require a flat surface. I’ve used it on handrails in public restroom stalls and it’s kept my bag off the floor.
@GRITS80 I’ve added that o my “bag” on Amazon, also. I like it doesn’t need a flat surface.
Well, do you want to know what BAG I ended up with? I’m telling you anyway. Ha! First, I do consider this an extravagant purchase/gift (I’m considering it my Bday and Xmas), and is not the norm for me. I’m still trying to justify it obviously.
I went to Saks and saw the YSL Lou Mini and was surprised I didn’t like it. It reminded me too much of my Michael Kors Ginny, but smaller. I love my MK Ginny and actually think mine looks better well made, prettier and frankly, more expensive.
Looked at Gucci again, but the only color I’d consider is the white, and I just won’t use that in the fall/winter in the Midwest, I just won’t. @abasket, I know I’m being practical, but I really want something I can wear year round with different colors and fabrics. That makes me happy!
So, the sales lady pulled out the Wallet on Chain and I fell in love with the snap closure, I think it’s more expensive looking than a zipper on top. I really liked the Nude Powder and felt it gave me the elegance I was wanting and the versatility. The only think I would have liked better was a little longer chain and maybe an inch wider. But I love it, it’s prettier In person. I do think the black in all these purses is the most stunning With the gold hardware, but I already love my black MK.
I got a $200 gift certificate to use in that area, so promptly went over and bought a Gucci belt. (Forehead on table).
@conmama thanks for the update - nothing like seeing something in person! I’m a huge crossbody fan and seldom wear anything else.
And a Gucci belt is on my wishlist!
I too think this is the kind of purchase you need to see in person. Glad you found something you love!
@conmama it’s BEAUTIFUL! And from what you’ve said you like the gold chain - and the nude powder is more versatile than pure white.
Whew, mission accomplished!!! I’m so glad you LOVE it!
So fun! We are all living vicariously through your purchase!
That is a great choice. The style is more sophisticated that the ziptop. And the YSL grain leather wears beautifully. Congratulations! You will really enjoy your bag.
@GRITS80 , I would have really liked the one at $2k, bigger, crossbody, little more bling with the chain strap…but I knew I wanted the Gucci belt too, so did the smaller one.
Love your choice! Wear it in good health!
I love it! Enjoy.
It is so pretty! I can’t wait to hear a review when you start using it! In my mind, I am a “wallet on a chain kind of gal” but in reality, I never feel put together enough to pull it off and end up with a longchamp tote with everything I own.
I loved what you chose!! Enjoy!
