Oh noooo. Chris P. just posted on the blog that they are STILL reading applications! That means they haven’t started selection committee yet.
What does that mean?
@whynotnow It might mean that they are reading the applications of students who made it to the selection commitee.
it better not be 12/19…I’ve already decided in my mind that there are only 8 days left haha
and hopefully Chris meant that in a more general way? the words were “Oh, and we do plan to do more admissions audio…once we’re done reading these applications!” maybe I’m just trying to convince myself that it’s going to be the 12th…
@whynotnow @boomboom123 I personally interpreted his statement as “we’ll do more audio once we are done with the early action decision process” and not “we’ll do more audio once we are done with the reading portion of the decision process.”
And I feel like the fact that international students can apply EA will push the decision release date to 12/19… it seems weird to me to announce international and domestic decisions on different days if they are a part of the same process… Of course, I would love to find out earlier rather than later, but idk if that’ll happen…
Who’s to say they can’t finish by the 12th?
Well this is pure speculation, but I feel like Caltech is going to be 12/12 and that MIT won’t want to have theirs on the same day (I know, they did that last year, but I doubt either wanted to pass up releasing on 12/13/14). Also I feel like there will be a lot of international applicants.
This might also just be me being anxious about probably being rejected/deferred and wanting to cling to the hope that I’ll be accepted longer… but I also do want to find out… idk, I guess I shouldn’t psychoanalyze myself haha
I was hoping Caltech would be tomorrow and MIT the 12th, but looks like that won’t work out. Then I was hoping they’d both be the 12th. I dunno man.
If MIT has them finished, I don’t think they’ll wait an extra week just because of Caltech. It’s not that big of a deal.
And same, I dont’ know why I’m so excited for the decisions when most likely I’ll be very disappointed…
Hey guys!
I am a regular decision applicant. I had a question about the interview report. My interviewer did not submit his report in over 3 weeks since the interview, and he hasn’t replied to the automatic email reminder from the application portal. Has anybody had a similar situation?
Would MIT consider 3.74 gpa with 2350 SAT and 4.4 weighted gpa. I messed up freshman year so upward trend(gpa is 9th-11th). My Gpa without freshman year is 3.98.
@persia5 They will go over your application. You’re aren’t at a debilitating disadvantage or anything.
@DonkeyKong466 You should talk to your interviewer and possibly send a question email.
@persia5 You’re applying to MIT. This means you’re smart. What do you think? Do you think, that with excellent scores in the grades that matter, they would consider you? I think so. As for your chances, I know about as much as the monkey that lives in your local zoo
Anyone know when EA decisions come out? PST
MIT hasn’t said a word.
Chance me? Also would love to know the answer to the sanieldalib’s question.

I think the interview was pretty good, but take that with a grain of salt. Same thing with the recs.
Main interests in math and physics
Has anyone else had MIT ask their guidance counselor for first quarter grades? I have no idea why they would be interested in mine as my transcript was fine. Does have any ideas?
At my school, counselors send the first quarter grades to all schools regardless. I think it’s just typical for colleges to want to see your first quarter grades.
