Letter about student treat baskets during finals?

Sometime in the last week or so I got something via snail mail about baskets that could be ordered for students to be delivered during final exams. There was an option for fruit/healthy stuff, candy, etc. I glanced at it and meant to look at it again later but now can't find it. Does anyone have it and if so, can you tell me if there was a web site listed?

Its a fundraiser, and I think it comes indirectly through the food service. Apologies but I forget exactly, but I have ordered in the past and they appreciate it! I’l check when I get home to see if I can find the info.

I checked my mailing and I cannot find any website to order online. It appears to be a mail order thing only from a company in NJ. You can search CC for ideas about other companies to use to send your student something during finals. I searched using the keywords “care package” to find alot of other online sites that will provide the same kind of exam gift. I think I will use one of these sites to more customize a care package for my D.

I have always sent my own package to my kids (S is @ Tulane and D is @ another university). For me, it is more economical to do it myself plus I put everything my kids love into the package which = no waste.

I asked my DS (I’ve sent packages from that company for the past 2 yrs, and he said he much preferred the stuff I had sent from Nancy’s Corner [Nancy’s Corner - Custom designed gift baskets from New Orleans, perfect for weddings, corporate gifts, birthdays, holidays and other special occassions.](<a href=“Nancy's Corner Gift Baskets”>Nancy's Corner Gift Baskets) They have some healthy stuff, but he loved the cookies and brownies (see the “college care” section). He also said you could just order a pizza, or if you preferred healthier, something from pita pit. His comment on the study basket was: “that thing was like 20 cents worth of chinese candy”. LOL

BTW, I just decided to order a fresh cooked dinner for DS and his housemates to be delivered next week from Nancy’s corner. Nancy directed me to their ad on the Tulane parents facebook page as they are currently offering free chocolate chip cookies!! So DS and his roommates in the house are getting dessert too! Yay!

“that thing was like 20 cents worth of chinese candy”. Oh my! I think I’ll go a different route.

Thank you all.

if you mail anything, remind your student to check their mail regularly. I’ve known people who have gone all semester without checking their mailbox/picking up their packages and had food ruined in the process.

My mother once surprised me with a box.

I thought the box contained some clothing I needed. It did.

But is also contained a snowman stuffed animal for the holidays.

Made my winter.

Younger daughter goes to Tulane and I think I will buy the treats as we did for my older daughter at her school. One surprise we sent daughter #1 at this time of the year was a surprise Halloween box. You can imagine how delighted the student would be to get the box back to her dorm, open it without knowing what’s inside, and discover a severed hand or a skull.

We had a good experience with Nancy’s Corner…talk to them on the phone and you’ll come up with just the right basket.

Also, a very good option for kids living offcampus with access to a bbq grill–we once sent an Omaha Steaks dinner for 4 (to repay some wonderful kindnesses of the roommates). It was a HUGE hit.

Over the years I always sent care packages for the holidays–Halloween, Valentines Day, Easter, as well as finals care packages which I know both my college kids appreciated…I really enjoyed putting them together!! D especially enjoyed the little decorations for the dorm/apt for the various holidays–things they enjoyed but wouldn’t spend money on.

The homecooked dinner is being delivered tonight by Nancy’s corner. DS is stoked!! I’ll report back.

Following back up. The delivered/catered dinner from Nancy’s Corner was a huge hit! When I asked if it arrived ok, he said “Yes, it was delicious and very fancy. Haven’t eaten real green stuff in a while”. He said there was plenty of food, with leftovers (3 males got free food and had leftovers?!?!?!) and the chocolate chip cookies for dessert were also delicious. He said he happened to have a very busy night tonight, so really appreciated not having to cook. They also cleaned up their kitchen in preparation!! Miracles do happen.

Only downside-- we chatted about this via text conversation instead of a phonecall, but thats ok. I’ll take it.

I highly recommend this for kids living off campus. Wish I’d thought of it for older s when he was in school (though I did send him a cake, huge beer stein-shaped cookies and had his lawn covered with pink flamingos and a sign for his 21st birthday). I think the embarrassment has worn off by now.

Thanks! Definitely something to check out.
