I am sending a letter of explanation for my reletively low high school grades (3.4 UW 3.95 W and 3.7 UC) to one of the private colleges that I am applying to because my mom had three heart attacks and lengthy hospital stays during high school. Throughout these events I had to assume her household responsibilities in addition to varsity track/xc and honors level classes…as a result my grades were effected.

So, to get to the point, should I send this letter to the UC’s as well? or is it too late?

Did you apply to UC's yet? Because in the UC Essay portion, you're given a chance to explain things like this. It's probably too late.

It's too late, you already had a chance to write it in your personal statement. Why didn't you just put it on your application back in November?

I dont know haha, I feel kinda stupid for not doing it now, I guess i'll call them though just to make sure its too late

3.4 uw 3.7 uc/ 3.95 w aren't low grades imo...

haha thanks...i'm just being safe though, cuz UCLA is so dang competitive

Wait...you just want to send a random letter to try and justify your grades? Will they take that? I would think that it's too late and you should wait and see if you are rejected and then use that reasoning for appeal.
