Letter of Rec Advice

So I'm conflicted. I have two letters of recommendation from two different professors and I don't know which one to send (all the universities I am applying to require 1).

The first one is from my writing professor. It is extremely positive but mainly addresses my academic strengths. Also, it sort of sounds generic. Almost all of the ratings are in the "one of the top few I've encountered" except for Concern for Others which is "excellent", which is a little bad because my focus in my essays is on communication, dialogue and community development.

The second letter is from my Environmental Studies professor, who is one of the top professors here at my university. His letter is also very positive, but barely touches on my academic strengths and focuses on my personal attributes and how they relate to my major and my decision to transfer. Also, he did not fill out the Ratings part of the letter.

I feel that both of these letters are generally good, but they speak of different sides of me. What do you think? Also, will it be frowned upon to send both of the letters? I can't find a clear statement on the universities' websites.

thanks

Send both!

anyone else? i certainly don’t want to push them and hinder my chances. perhaps someone here has some experience with this kind of issue?

don’t send both. If a school asks for one, they DON’T want two unless the other one is very different and necessary.

Since both are different, I say send both!

Good luck!

Send both.
