Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to use a letter of rec from a college prof. from a few semesters ago? she wrote it a few semester ago, but I decided I wasn't ready to transfer yet. the letters really good, and I cant really get a good letter from any recent professors because I have been taking online classes--thus, they hardly know anytihng about me. the letter she wrote is dated, so the board of admissions will clearly know it's not very recent..............id appreciate ANY input

whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa not all at once guys

Disregarding how you “know it’s really good,” because the letters are usually not supposed to be seen by students until well after their submission, you have a few options. The best, I think, would be to ask the professor of choice to send out a copy of the recommendation (you supply all the materials, of course) to the list of schools you’re applying to. She should be able to change the date, update it as necessary, and send out multiple copies.

This largely requires that she kept a copy for her records; if not, I’d plainly ask for another one and tell her your situation. It’s generally not a good idea to just copy and send it out yourself.

^ all valid points… i considered doing this a few weeks ago, but apparently the professor has vanished from the face of the earth (or at least my community college). it’s been about 2 years since i took her course.
