Hi everyone,

I'm a homeschooled student, applying this year. I was just wondering--I asked two of my college instructers to write me the letter of recommendation to the common app, and sent the link to them after they agreed to do so. However, they told me that they need a secondary school code to continue...What do you put in this code since they are from a college--my homeschool code or what?

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, the homeschool code is all zeroes or something like that. You can easily email the common app people to double check! good luck :)

When I have taken various tests I’ve had to put down 991199 (or maybe 119911) as a homeshool code.

The common app’s CEEB/ACT homeschool code is 999999. When you press the “look up” link underneath the place for the code, you hit the “homeschool” link in the popup that it opens, and 999999 is the code they give you. :)

I think it varies by state.

Alright–thanks so much everyone! Just one more quick question about recs–I have a few extra recs, so I called the colleges and they said to include my birth date, address, etc., so it is easier to know who I am. Where should I ask the recommenders to write this–should it be in the header/footer?
TIA!
