For my letters of rec, I am considering getting one from my APUSH teacher and one from my AP Econ/AP WH teacher because these are the two teachers that I am closest with and who will write the best recs. Should I only get one from one of them and then get another from a math/science since they are both social studies? Do colleges prefer to see a variety of subjects covered? In the end, could I get one for both social studies teachers and then one from a math teacher, resulting in 3 letters of rec, or is that over-doing it?

Well colleges have different requirements for what subject teacher recs they would like. A lot depends on your intended major, but generally the rule of thumb is one humanities/social studies and one science math. If I were you, I’d pick between your APUSH and AP Econ teacher for one of your main recommendations. Your second main rec. should come from a math/sci. teacher. Then you could send a supplemental recommendation from the third teacher (Econ or APUSH), and keep it at that. Colleges won’t mind if you have one extra rec., but I would keep it at three. Hope that helps :)

Thanks a lot! That answered my question really well
