This is a pretty straightforward question, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. I'm a transfer student applying to UM and one of my professors has agreed to write me a letter of recommendation. However, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on what the process for rec letters is. Does the teacher just write a letter, put it in the envelope, send it to the admissions office, and that's it? Or do I have to indicate somewhere on my application that I have letters of recommendation so they know to check for it? Is there a certain form the letters should be in? Anything else I should know/do?

Also, if anyone has general information (not just for UM) I'd welcome that as well, although hopefully other schools will have more info on their websites.
