Okay, so if I ask teachers for letters of recs for college do I have to tell them exactly what schools I’m applying to if they are all on the common app??? And if I’m applying to say 10, & don’t want to bother the teacher can I use that one letter for all of my schools (with there permission of course)?
You don’t have to tell them what schools you’re applying to. You just invite them to submit the recommendation then you can choose to use it or not use it for however many schools you want.
What’s the procedure in your school? There’s one in place already, why not ask your guidance counselor what it is?
In my school, kids ask 3 teachers to write them letters, and guidance sorts out the requests so that each kid ends up with 2 teacher and one guidance letter.
We write the letters, and upload them to Naviance. Guidance takes over from there.
But ask your guidance counselor how it works in your school.
It depends on the teacher. If one asks you, then it is only polite to answer, but otherwise you aren’t expected to.
