I have a question about letters of recommendation for colleges. My daughter would like to ask her studio dance teacher and her voice teacher for letters of recommendation…but I was wondering should it be high school teachers that you ask? Obviously I also would prefer her dance and voice teachers to do, but didn’t know what the protocol is? First time doing this for the performing arts obviously, so I never thought about if fully.
For artistic recommendations, they definitely do NOT have to be affiliated with your high school!
For the academic teacher recs, yes, they need to be teachers from your academic core classes.
As with everything else in the process- it depends on the school. Some have specific requirement - like requiring one to be from a teacher in a core subject
I agree with @toowonderful … LOR types definitely depend on the school. We ended up having 5 - 2 academic and 3 from the arts community - that we would pick and choose from depending on what was required.
