I understand the letters are starting to arrive. Grandma got one (we're still waiting!). It was good to hear that he thinks KP is "great", albeit a lost voice and sore feet. If you're like me, you'll be sitting by the phone until the call on Sunday.

I'm feeling pretty good about things at this point. I'm sure a corner has been turned, routines are starting to set in, and the Candidates are changing on a daily basis.

We received a letter from my son as did his Grandma and his Grandma and Grandpa. He was doing great. Said he had a lot of funny stories and relayed a few in his letter. He likes his DI's. He says the food is good, they get candy bars at lunch and have plenty of time to get full. He doesn't like the "nut to butt" showers (his words, not mine). Hopefully that will change after Indoc. Looking forward to hearing more funny stories and have a lot of questions for him. Can't wait to hear from him tomorrow.

Just went to the mail and received another letter from our son. Still sounds like he is really enjoying it. It was really neat to have him write about the activities we have seen him doing in the pictures (e.g. rowing, swimming, etc.). He said he went to church (which makes me happy) and it was very nice. Wasn't sure if he would just because he loves to get his sleep. I wasn't too worried that he wouldn't like it but it is sure nice to hear it from him.

I have been wonderfully suprised at the amount of correspondence our son has sent. I didn't expect any letters and have gotten quite a few.

They are laced with a lot of humor and he too has mentioned the showers.

We received one letter on a church bulletin in which he drew a map around the picture of the church to show us where his dorm was in relation to the church as well as the waterfront whcih he says is aka heaven.

We received another letter on his target practice card.

Our son says that sometimes things are really hard but overall he aounds like he is enjoying the experience and has full realiztion of what a wonderful opportunity it is to be at Kings Point.

I have to agree with you KP10, I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount and the tone of the mail we have received from our daughter. She said that Indoc is hard, but that if you're really trying your best the DIs recognize that and give you credit. She admires the DIs, even if they're hard on them and all of her letters have been positive. There has been no talk of "this is too hard" or any hint of wanting to quit. In fact, in her first letter she was asking us for things to bring to Parent's Weekend. So she clearly plans to stay at KP for awhile. We have been very impressed with the amount of communication from the Academy, from the pictures to the video broadcasting of the parade/drill competition (still crossing my fingers for that one!). I can't wait to talk to her tomorrow.

Received two letters on Friday which was very exciting after the disappointment of the cancelled Indoc parade. One was a four pager that he wrote while on fire watch. He is still having a great time other than the fact that he gets a heat rash everytime he goes outside. He would always get them a home during football where his pads rubbed against his thighs but now he says he gets it all over. He also mentioned that he would like to get some more sleep which I would imagine they would all like. He was exited to be getting khaki uniforms but wasn't real fond of shining the new shoes for several hours on end. He is very happy to be at KP instead of returning to our State U which he attended last year. My son graduated in '05 and was all set to go to KP when we found out in late April that a nagging ache in his wrist was due to a broken bone which would require surgery to fix. Long story short, surgery worked, 1 year of "regular college" with calc, physics, english and military histroy and KP this year so now he knows what he's not missing out on. Am anxiously awaiting some pictures to be posted from yesterday to see what they look like in their uniforms.
