I committed officially yesterday! I did get to visit the QRC while I was at ADOCH and talk to a lot of people, but I wanted to hear from some people who aren’t directly involved in it—I know Brown is very accepting, but how visible do you think the LGBTQ presence on campus? What are dating prospects like for girls who aren’t straight? Anything else of note?
I don’t talk about being queer much on here, but it’s another of my identities, and it’s something I became much more comfortable with while I was at Brown.
Brown has evolved to the point where there’s no need for every LGBTQ student to be directly involved in the QRC to find a queer community on campus - almost every community within Brown will have plenty of queer students and be extremely welcoming. Brown was the first place that I found that my queerness was a non-issue, unlike my high school where I was one of two out students in my graduating class and generally felt singled out for that.
Plenty of dating prospects, I promise. You’ll find more in certain places (rugby team, QRC, etc), but you’ll find people everywhere. Both hookup culture and real dating happens. I met my future wife at Brown
Is it okay for me to PM you?
@SpringAwake15 Yes!
