I am currently applying to college and I don’t really understand the difference between these schools. Why would I want to or not want to go to a particular type of school?
There are literally dozens of threads out here on this topic, it gets asked all the time (so try searching). Large university: More class selection, possibly more active social and club scene, can have D1 sports, larger student body to meet people, overall more research funding. LAC: smaller class sizes, closer relationships with professors, most classes taught by professors vs. TAs, easier to do research due to no grad students at the college. Typically (although there are exceptions), larger universities have more professional/pre-professional majors (business, nursing, engineering).
