Liberal Arts Engineering

My future plans are to go into some form of engineering. The only problem is, I don't want to go into a large engineering undergrad school, instead I like the liberal arts feel.

Question 1: Is it possible to be accepted into a graduate engineering program without any "real" engineering experience as an undergrad. I don't like the 3-2 program idea. Would I be accepted if I just loaded up on physics and math classes for four years?

Question 2: If so, what form of engineering is the safest decision if this could work or are there better options.

I'd appreciate all the feedback I can. Thanks!
