Liberal Arts Programs in Ivan Allen College

I am not sure if the majority of students/parents who read and post to the GaTech boards are primarily focused on the engineering, science majors at Tech. What perspective or information as a Tech student can anyone offer on the liberal arts programs at Tech.

We know someone who is looking at potentially transferring from Top 50 LAC to one of the programs in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. Would love to get some feedback from others who have looked at their programs, have or are attending, or other reliable Techies.

Thanks so much.

Ivan Allen’s websites are fairly informative. You might want to start there and come back with more specific questions if you still have some.

Thanks, InPursuit. Several of the links you posted I had not seen and will forward.

I guess what I am primarily interested in from those who read this board is actual experiences or themselves or other students they can share on CC about what it is like to be a liberal arts student at Tech. In other words, does a student feel like the “red-headed step-child” -old phrase from the 50’s. Seems that Tech promotes smaller class sizes, less TA’s in IVAC than in the Schools of Engineering-but is that possible?

Thanks in advance for any feedback or experience anyone can provide.?

I know quite a few people who have a major within the Liberal Arts College. The majority of lower level classes are large lecture halls, but as you move up and get more specific, the classes are much smaller and provide a better chance for class discussions. The coursework unlike Engineering is mostly composed of a combination of reading, papers, and a few tests, depending on the class. I also know for a fact that the College of Liberal Arts is one of the most heavily populated colleges for the Female population. Hope this helps.
