liberal arts school + great arts program + foreign language? Input needed!

Hello there! I have finally decided that I want to leave behind my current school and start the process all over again. While I could get by at my current school, I don't want to play it safe anymore. Thus, the search has started all over again for me and this time I'd really like some help.

I'm looking for a liberal arts school with a very strong arts program. I'd like something like the range of Columbia College Chicago, but I'd also like the possibility to pick a degree outside of that. I've had 5 years of Spanish and now I'm embarking on Japanese, so foreign language is important to me. My current school offers classes but not a major or minor, and that's a problem for me. I also really enjoy radio. I don't know what I want to major in, but I'm good at writing and drawing and have an interest in working for an animation studio (perhaps not just in drawing, but managing and writing and such).

Whatever it is, I need more time to figure it out and my current school just doesn't offer the classes for me to explore that. I'd also like to attend a school that has an arts vibe and is more liberal than the rural part of America I now reside in.

It's of tantamount importance to me that the school is located in an area with many internship possibilities. If the school has a focus on getting a job after college, that'd be great. I don't want to walk out with an art degree and be unable to get employed. I'd like it to be in or around a big city.

If this sounds like anything to you, or if you have any suggestions, please let me know! I'd really like some advice and input this time around. Thanks in advance!

Tangerine, how about American, Syracuse and BU.

Middlebury comes to mind, especially for foreign language, if you have the stats for it.

Tangerine, you and I are very much like, with the exception that I'm in HS. I've been studying spanish for 5 years and just this year have begun to study Japanese. i studied abroad in tokyo this past summer actually. im also very involved in my HS visual arts program, and have been doing that for 4 years.

as such, my college search was narrowed down by several things:

1.) i wanted a liberal arts college
2.) strong foreign language (especially east asian language) offerings
3.) strong international relations program (my intended major)
4.) a decent art department

i applied to middlebury, oberlin, lewis and clark, reed, whitman, grinnell, macalester, skidmore. some have more language/international focus than others, some have more art focus than others, and some are just about balance.

i think middlebury would be good for you, as it boasts top language programs, a relatively good fine arts department, and also has a good film studies program. middlebury is not ubran, but would definetly provide strong "connections" after graduation.

Yeah, Midd isn't urban, but it is liberal. And like OL said, has good connections in cities like NYC.

OniLawliet- I am surprised to find someone with such similar interests! I am planning on studying abroad this summer or my second semester next year, depending on how things pan out.

Middlebury would be ideal if it weren't in Vermont. I'm hoping to go to something more midwestern.
