I'd like to go to a Liberal Arts School on the east coast. I'd prefer that the school be suburban/rural but not too isolated I'm interested in majoring in either psychology, film, or environmental studies (can't decide they're all so different). It's important to me that the school is liberal and diverse. I'm very interested in independent music and movies and I would love for the school to have a very artistic/creative vibe. I'm considering Wesleyan, Vassar, Bard, and Colgate. What other schools would you recommend for me, and what are the pros and cons of the schools listed above?

“I’m considering Wesleyan, Vassar, Bard, and Colgate.” One of these things is not like the other. I think Colgate would be classified as fratty and sports-minded rather than artistic/creative.

To most people Bard is pretty isolated.

I don’t know if they have the majors you want, but you may want to take a look at Skidmore and Goucher. They are less selective than Wesleyan or Vassar, but I think both have the vibe you want. Skidmore (the more selective of the two) is in a charming town, walkable from campus. Goucher is in a suburb of Baltimore.

Thank you very much! I’ve just begun researching Goucher and Skidmore and am seriously considering adding them to my list of schools to apply to.

Hampshire College, maybe?

This may be a safety for you but what about SUNY New Paltz? Has the right location, liberal and diverse and has a very creative and artsy student body.

Bates, Conn College, Goucher, Muhlenberg, Skidmore, Vassar, Wesleyan, Wheaton

Maybe Bennington

I second Conn College, which perportedly (sp.?) has a very good Environment Studies dept. and was very into the arts.

Have you conisdered Smith College?

William & Mary if you want better weather.
