We were brought up Roman Catholic and live in the NYC Metro area. My eldest sister married into a Protestant family and they were highly distrustful of Catholics.
That being said my dad was Catholic and my mom was Lutheran and her family loved him and his family loved her.
I grew up Methodist, married a Catholic, and live in the Midwest. S1 graduated from ND. In my state, I do think there is anti-Catholic bias in areas. I wouldn’t have said that before I married. I do think it’s rooted in unfamiliarity and distrust. I was also wondering where GFG was raised.

I did read “The Unlikely Disciple”. Interesting, easy read. I wouldn’t go out of my way to hire a Liberty grad, but also wouldn’t discount it if they had the other necessary qualifications. For an occupation with certification–RN, CPA, etc. I don’t think the undergrad matters much except maybe for the initial position.
Really? I find it rooted in the Reformation and the subsequent centuries’-long wars between Protestants and Catholics in Europe. There are groups here in America for who those wars and conflicts are present tense.
Zoosermom is correct. DH’s grandfather was in the military of a South American country and was assigned to protect the Protestant missionaries from being attacked and killed by Catholics. That’s not all that long ago.
My Dad has been dead for 8 years, and until his death he and his extended family (and those like them, of which there are many) referred to Catholics by the “P” word and decried the decadence and immorality of the Pope.
Sorry if I offended anyone. My area is rural and heavily Baptist, and the local anti-Catholic sentiment is due more to being unfamiliar than it is anything else. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I was raised staunch Methodist–I do know about the Reformation
No offense taken by me! Just genuine surprise. (And I never thought you didn’t know about the Reformation - it’s just that in my denomination and many others, we haven’t moved on from that point!). I’m not from a Baptist area, so your perspective is very interesting to me.
