Since it seems like all people talk about on CC anymore is dating, sex, and partying I thought I'd bring up something that is actually relevant to the real world. Tonight is the eve of the primary and it seems like the media just can't get enough of the current battle over the Democratic candidacy in Connecticut right now. It's almost like a mini-presidential race or something. My reason for posting is simple, what the heck is happening with politics in this country? If I lived in Conn., Lieberman would have my vote in a second. Yet his almost 30-year record as a dedicated, true-blue Democrat looks to be going down the tubes in favor of someone with no record just because of the "gotcha" politics of today. A lot of voters are rallying around new-comer Lamont while accusing Lieberman of acting as Bush's pet (i.e. the kiss at the State of the Union address) and being soft of the Iraq war. I'm disgusted with these allegations. If anyone were to actually examine the TRUTH they would find that these allegations are just simply not true and completely distorted. While his view of Iraq is controversial, he HAS criticized W's handling of the mid-East and Iraq on numerous occasions and also supports the withdrawal of troops. What Lieb does not support is pulling out of Iraq all at once, which is only logical. Think about it, if the U.S. were to just up and leave Iraq -as some think we should- Iraq would fall into complete civil war and utter bloodshed. I feel disheartened that so many Democrats would turn on one of their own based on a few flimsy, illegitimate criticisms. The Lamont campaign and allies have greatly distorted the facts on Lieberman and are misleading voters. That's all.

...And I bet I get no posts because people on here would rather debate the accuracy of the statement that 20% of all males in college are "players."

I live in connecticut and I will be voting for Lieberman tommarrow. Even though I disagree with many of his votes supporting this presidents policies, i don't trust the greenwich billionaire Lamont to do anything. Lieberman did a great job saving connecticuts naval base from closing, which this president wanted.

either that or because nobody really cares about connecticut

plus lieberman has some sort of vendetta against violent videogames based soully on faulty experimentation and illogical conclusions. lame.

^ Really? Why don't you come out from under that rock and pick up a paper or turn on any national news network(CNN, MSNBC, FOX) and let's see if you still say that.

or should I say come out from under your X-Box 180, 360, ps2, psp???

Hmm...youth violence at a 40-year low at the same time when violent videogames see a rapid increase in production. Yes, there's definitely a connection there. We better start taking away developer's first-amendment rights, good call.

And keep in mind that Lieberman wants to initiate a $90 million study on the topic of the effects of violent videogames, which has already been researched countless times. Government waste? Perhaps. But yes, I agree with you, because Lieberman has been in politics for 30 years, he is certainly the best man for the job. Just like Strom Thurmond.

I support Lieberman due to his support of the war. I despise his infringing on electronic freedom and wishing to waste taxpayers' money on that laughable "study."

maybe you should read this: http://www [DOT] cnn [DOT] com/2006/POLITICS/08/03/greenfield.lieberman/

i'm very very liberal, yet i support lieberman. lamont's biggest problem in greenwich is which side of the street the new starbucks should be to. he is a one trick pony who happens to be extremely extremely wealthy. if he does get elected, no one in washington is going to take him seriously. both bill and hillary clinton support joe, and thats good enough for me.

Bump to Luxar. Lieberman is unAmerican.

^ wha?? Luxar would oppose Lieberman based solely on the video-game issue? haha. First off, $90 million is just pocket change for the federal government, yeah try $90 billion...now THAT might make a dent. Secondly, a Senator alone does not have the kind of authority to just go commissioning studies.
"A roll-up-the-sleaves-and-get-business-done white millionare cable magnate from Greenwhich is going to take Connecticut by the reins, corral the nation around it, and take the country in a brave new direction. Somebody give me a shot of whiskey please..."~From dailykos.com

no one cares seriously
pew pew pew

I can't speak for Luxar, but I would oppose Lieberman solely on the video game issue. Either he doesn't like freedom or doesn't choose which groups to pander to carefully enough.

^ exactly why America is in the situation it is. A million Islamic extremists want to kill us, Iran constucting nukes the size China, and a President who...well nvm "no one cares"

How could you oppose somebody on one issue? I don't think that's responsible politics. Especially when the issue is something trivial like video games.

I'm a pretty hardcore Democrat and I support Lieberman. He's been good to his state and his country. Lamont is nothing more than a vaguely human-shaped ball of advertising and slogans and "shock" politics. His campaign seems to be built on nothing more than sound clips. It's sad.

I live in Connecticut and I think the people are starting to come to their senses. Lieberman has closed the gap somewhat in the polls...well, not necessarily him, but simply people realizing what's really at stake.

I only oppose Lieberman for his crackdown on rave culture (it's none of his business), but I'd rather have someone with experience and reputation than a clueless newcomer who installs lines for cable television.

yougotjohn- exactly

i'm from CT and definately NOT voting for Lieberman.
