life at cornell

i don't know much about cornell but from what i've heard, it's out in the middle of nowhere. about an hour away from new york. anybody that's there, did you know that going in and choose it anyway? and how's the party scene/does being far from a major city affect anything?

it's actually about 4 hours away from NYC, lol. The party scene is great if you enjoy frat parties; if not, you can go to the bars w/ a semi-decent fake ID or go to smaller parties in collegetown.

I've said this before, but it looks like i'll continue to say it -

yes, Ithaca is in the middle of nowhere - there's no big town next to it. But, Ithaca itself is not the middle of nowhere ... there's dozens and dozens of college-oriented shops, restaurants, malls, whatever you really need is there. The social scene at Cornell is also very hopping as Cornell students are very involved in the 800 clubs on campus, the athletics, the greek life, and much much more.

Here's a video on residential life:

cornell is very small townish...life revolves around campus...collegetown is mainly for bars (only way to get in is if your frat/sorority gets you in)

there's a great video on youtube from MTVu about Cornell...

i was disappointed in the fact that cornell does not have a big city...i'm from houston and we drive everywhere...

if you're bored at cornell there really is no place to go...unless you're from NY and can go home for the weekend! OUT OF STATERS BEWARE1!!

and a link to an interview with a Cornell athlete:

http://www.ivyleaguesports.com/article.asp?intID=6079

redcrimblue...I really don't c the point in either of those links...I'm confused as to how they talk about social life and party scene at Cornell...

Ithaca is a small city with approximately 30,000 residents. Cornell students and Ithaca College students add about 20,000 more people to the city's population. Ithaca isn't a large city of course, but there is plenty to do there and there are always things going on at campus.

There are 13,000 Cornell undergrads, 7,000 Cornell grads, and 10,000 Ithaca college students so there are 30,000 students. 1:1 ratio w/ Ithaca residents. :)

although I have heard that this website somewhat misrepresents cornell (because it pretty much ONLY focuses on the frat/typical college partying try:

http://www.theu.com

type in cornell in the search bar then click "the scene".

I'm not the biggest fan of that kind of stuff so I'm glad I will be living in hasbrouck.

Cornell is fun, trust me. There is ALWAYS something to do. If you're really bored then go study because you're probably behind in that anyway.

Cornell is boring, :sigh: but you can always cuddle up in your room...unless you're sexiled by that roomate of yours! D:
