Hey guys:D I got accepted to UMN recently and im super excited.
i know theres a question similar to this below but i just want to know how life in minneapolis is.
is minneapolis like a city-city?
i was born in LA and moved to a small city in Florida recently and I hate it.
It's really red-necked compared to LA and I miss the city life alot. :(
I'm expecting that Minneapolis is not as "metro" as NYC or Chicago, but I just wanted to know about the shopping areas, restraunts, and college life in general.

Also can you tell me the pros/cons in UMN?

Thankss ;D

I live in a suburb of Minneapolis and have been to Chicago many times so I will kind of compare the two cities.

Of course, MPLS isn't as big as Chicago, but in the heart of the city it really isn't that different, except for the fact that there is much less traffic here. Minneapolis still has every major sport (the Wild play in St. Paul, but close enough), a huge music scene and a lot of clubs/bars. So yes, it is very city like, and not redneck at all. You are not going to get the tourism aspect like you would in Chicago or NYC and there aren't as many museums, but it is still a thriving and growing city with a ton of things to do. There is the Mall of America in Bloomington which is just about 20 minutes from the U, and there are a ton of great resturants. It is a great place for a college student to be for sure.
