If you could make an estimate, approximately how big a percentage of H grads enter the workforce, go onto further study, or do neither? This has been a surprisingly hard question to find the answer to online.

I'm asking because I read somewhere that 25% of Harvard grads go to work at Wall Street alone.

That is not true, that 25% … since I am sure there isnt even 25% of all students in economy, nevertheless all of them going to Wall Street. Are doctors going to Wall Street as well??

I see various percentages reported, but an article in Slate states that 31% Harvard’s class of 2014 took jobs in finance and consulting. This isn’t out of line with other recent numbers I’ve seen.

WTD: congrats on your recent accept to Harvard. Slow down a bit OK? Enjoy your senior year. Show gratefulness to your parents and family (I regret not doing more during my summer before going off to my Ivy campus). Fine to wonder about post Harvard but why don’t you sit back and see how you’ll actually enjoy Harvard? Engage Harvard? Milk it for all it’s worth? Is it THAT much of a blip or stepping stone for you?

If I’m off-base and presuming too much, I deeply apologize. All I’m saying is you have in your back pocket, the golden ticket – one which millions of people would give their left arm to have. Slow down a bit and enjoy that fact, eh? No one expects you to chart out your life for the next 15 years. You’ll encounter marvelous things that may completely change your world view – completely send you on a trajectory that you can’t fathom at this moment. Relish that. Enjoy that. Savor that.
