"Like"

<p>I kinda like it, it's cute when girls say "like". :)</p>

<p>I don't think its a regional thing because I live in Southern Cali and I don't hear it that often. It's more like the more money you have the more likely you will use like.</p>

<p>You live in SoCal and you don't hear "like"...? That place is where it originated (believe me, I grew up there, sigh).</p>

<p>the interesting thing is that "like" can be used in more than one way in this context</p>

<p>when you say for example "i got like a 95 on that test last year" you'd be saying that you got roughly a 95, it's just a synonym for that. </p>

<p>that's somewhat less annoying than when people say something like</p>

<p>"did you , like, see that movie yesterday? it was like the best movie ive ever seen. i was,, like, astounded!"</p>

<p>Just my observation, but I believe that outside of high school people throw in "you know" far more often than "like".</p>

<p>It is annoying and habit forming I think. When you ask someone to try and stop saying it, they almost seem to have brain freeze! I don't mind young people talking like that amongst themselves but talking to an adult or in the work force with like after every other word just makes you look unintelligent.</p>
