Due to my rigorous schedule and some senioritis, my first semester senior year GPA has dropped almost a full point from my junior year GPA, which has me worried that my admission will brought into question. I was accepted into William and Mary ED, and withdrew all my other college apps due to the ED agreement. From what I’ve read, the college is supposed to first send a letter asking for a justification in my drop in performance, and, if my justification isn’t good enough, my admission will be revoked. And if that happens, I’d be left without any kind of backup plan. What’s the likelihood of that happening?
William & Mary’s Admissions has written about this in the past in a blog post titled “You can’t spell Calculus without 2 C’s.” They aren’t too concerned as long as you don’t get 2 C’s, any D, or any F on your final transcript. If you do, it shows a significant downturn in academic performance and they will send you a letter/reevaluate your acceptance.
Basically they want you to be proactive, show that you have learned from the experience, and demonstrate responsibility. Since it is the middle of the semester, it is still early and you can improve those grades but they will get the mid-semester report. They are not out to get you. Chances are, if you got in you got what it takes to succeed at William & Mary and they want you to come, but you should make sure that you are not slacking and taking school seriously, which is why they admitted you in the first place.
tl;dr You have an incredible opportunity on your hands that not many people have, make sure that you are making the most of it.

Funnily enough, it was that dreaded Calculus course that did me in. It’s reassuring to know that I have the rest of the year to fix things though. Thanks for the information and encouragement!
