Likely "call"?

Wow. I’m proud of us. For once, CC is not insulting the OP and calling him/her a ■■■■■ directly. Yay!! And congrats! I’m sure you deserve it.

sdxdtx,

Congratulations, I know it is very exciting. You should be getting a letter from Dean Brenzel shortly (within weeks, be patient) explaining why you are a “likely letter” recipient, what in your application stood out, etc.

Yale and other colleges do this, because they want to get in touch with the top candidates and say “we loved you first”, so you will be more likely to choose (in this case) Yale, than those colleges starting with H or P! It is a very clever move, I think. Some colleges, including the Ivies, have an agreement to admit students on March 16 (or whatever the agreed deadline) and not before. So they can’t actually “admit” you now. Your likely letter will probably explain this.

My ‘likely letter’ recipient wasn’t an athlete either. The admissions officer who called was very complimentary and specific about what made him stand out, and all the personal attention did work its magic on him. He was accepted to every college to which he applied, but none of them could top Yale after the phone call!

Yes, you will get your t-shirt upon acceptance! If you don’t, feel free to call the admissions office. In fact, you should call them with any questions. They are a friendly bunch.

Have a look through the other ‘likely letter’ threads here on CC. Some of us have posted info in the past.

All the best to you!
:)

congrats! I really wish I were you…

congrats…
i was deferred and well not even an interview yet, let alone a likely…
damn…

you should post the letter :)

Tardis: a copy of the LL text can be found on post #23 (page 2) of this thread

thank you!!!

That’s not at all what my letter says, but it’s still nice nonetheless : )

Thanks everyone, I’ve spent the past few days researching Yale a bit more, and I must say I’m very excited.

Congrats! How about telling us your stats?

When did you send your application?

When was your interview?

Thanks . . .
