Since you are on the east coast, why don't you and your D do some unofficial visits this summer? Yes you have to pay your own expenses ... but you can still meet with the coach and ask the questions face to face.

Our unofficial visit at Notre Dame was awesome -- the grand tour of the campus with the coaching staff, and then the coach set appointments for us with the strength and conditioning group, and academic advising and support, and we had plenty of time to wander around and explore after some detailed conversations with the coaching staff about where S would fit in to their recruiting plans and to their program.

(I didn't go on the unofficial to Cornell, but it was similar.)

we did a bunch of official visits in the spring. Impossible to do over the summer for her sport since that's when the kids are playing in all the national tournaments.

oops that should say unofficial visits.

cnp-- agree completely; nearly a duplicate of some advice I gave on the other thread.

Ask: Where do I rank on your list of recruits? If I need it, am I your auto admit? How many of your auto-admits have been ever unexpectedly been denied, and why?

Ask the tough questions.

AND, to be careful, still do an EA app at a match/safety or two.

thelongroad, unfortunately I would GUESS from your posts that there may be better golfers with worse grades applying. I would guess that your D will not be the auto-admit if there is one-- that would go to the most superior athlete with the lowest chance of admission on her own. That's the kid the coach will pull out of the reject pile if need be.

If your kid is Ivy material, though, I am certain there are a few top 10 LACs with comparable academics and strong teams that would be thrilled to get her. These can be your fall-backs if the Ivy game goes awry, so do not overlook them. Furthermore, the D3 LACs are much more fun for many kids as they get to have off seasons and more flexibility in their lives.

SBmom - Still a little early to know who's applying and if there are better golfers with worse grades. I know she fits in well, sports ability-wise, with this year's crop of recruits( who they actually got, not who they were trying to get). That's easily determined in her sport. But, who knows for next year! The teams are small, so you're only talking a couple recruits each year. Also have to factor in that better players would likely go for an Ivy level school giving scholarships
