Has anyone received likely letter from uchic yet?
my son was admitted SCEA and he did not receive a ‘likely’ letter.
Do we do likely letters? I’d assume so but I’ve never seen it mentioned.
Chicago offers EA (Early Action), not SCEA (Single Choice Early Action). The first four names come to mind for SCEA are Stanford, Harvard, Yale and Princeton.
Uchicago does do likelies. I don’t know when though. I believe likelies for most top schools usually start coming in mid February. However, no one should ever expect one.
Update: I just checked and in the last two years applicants started receiving them in January. Maybe they’re being sent later this year.
Again, my son was admitted early action and did not receive a letter.
Well that isn’t really relevant. OP seems to be talking about RD likely letters.
yeah i am talking about rd likely letters
like what groups usually get them/
It varies, really. But the common belief is that recruited athletes, high-stat URMs, and tip top cream of the crop applicants get them. I really wouldn’t expect one if I were you. I get that it is exciting to think of the prospect of getting one, but none of us should expect them. But if you get one, totally tell us! I haven’t heard of UChicago sending any out so far this year, which is a bit odd.
the thing is im a URM so keep my fingers crossed I guess?
I got my likely letter from Uchicago on January 8th. I was completely surprised because it was super early and exactly a week after I handed in my app (January 1).
Also I’m not an athlete.
@Gladiator13 What’s your theory on why you received a letter?
Was it a physical mail or was it just an email?
It was an email stating that my application status had been updated. I honestly have no clue why I got one. I didn’t even know Uchicago did them. I was completely shocked. Besides being a URM I’m pretty normal. Not a varsity athlete. I’m pretty good at debate and my test scores were within their range but that’s it.
Interesting, at least now we know that likely letters are already being sent.
@Gladiator13 thanks for the reply. Congratz on getting in uchicago early!
@DL43516 I think the more likely scenerio is that the emails are already sent and only a small group of people got them.
Sorry I was referring to LLs in the context of my college list. Haha
