Limited Classes!

well that makes sense, I knew the decals could be art related, but its just so uncertain. Of course I plan to take one if that is the case this coming semester! ( :

Anyways, I only called people those negative terms because they were hounding me for stating an opinion, and ripped apart everything I said as though it was absurd and unjustified. Thus, i felt those titles suited them. I was actually hoping someone would respond with a reasoning behind it (i.e. since its a research university perhaps?), since it does seem odd to me…obviously lol. Whatever, the whole post was not supposed to be a debate on the value of art, it was just to post an observation in hopes to garner some experiences of those that agree or could explain the reasoning’s behind this…Also, I really was surprised by people telling me to not follow the calso advice, technically they are the authority with the knowledge! I assumed they were telling me good advice, and by all the responses I realized they weren’t!

Either way, I hope that all the physics classes you want to take are offered :P

It’s probably because there are far more majors in Berkeley that require large, lower-div lab classes, compared to visual & performing arts. The arts have performance and studio classes as well, just that those tend to be upper-div and tailored to those who already have experience in that field (i.e. prospective majors).

That isn’t fair, but I’m stating a fact. It would be great if there were more intro classes to everything. I’d love an intro jazz improvisation class. But it’s not going to happen, because it just isn’t necessary. Berkeley is trying to graduate most of its students on schedule, and unfortunately, that means channeling money towards classes that have more demand in terms of major requirements.

You don’t need a class to take part in the arts here at Berkeley though. Join a dance team, or a theater group, or an singing group. If you tell me that there aren’t enough of those here, you’re crazy. Also, if you’re worried that these groups lack instruction, you’re also mistaken. At the beginning of the semester, they have beginner groups for most dance teams where you learn the basics.
