List of 15 Schools With the Wealthiest Alumni - UM #15

15....not bad. But let's get that up!

Also, the numbers dont add up though, our ultra wealthy (defined as NW of > $30 million) net worth total is higher than several of the schools ranked higher than us...strange.

GO BLUE!

Not too surprising since we are one of the largest schools on that list.

However, I don’t know how accurate Harvard’s truly is. I have a feeling that they are including people like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg, though they don’t actually qualify in the definition of alumni since they dropped out. Yet, I could be wrong in the case that they weren’t counted making Harvard’s number even more impressive.

Although in terms of the number of wealthy alums, Michigan was #15, it terms of the value of their net worth, Michigan was #10. Go Blue!

Boston University??? thats a surprise… also Yale #8 and Princeton at #10 (tied with Michigan in terms of net worth). wow. what makes NYU that good??? #5? Harvards net worth is more than double the closest one.

JRswish, BU and NYU are not that surprising. Those two universities attract a lot of wealthy boarding school kids. They are extremely expensive to attend, moderately difficult to get into and provide very little financial aid. I would say that they are the destination of choice for many wealthy kids.

These types of surveys have limited usefulness because they really can only report self-disclosed or publicly disclosed wealth.

I know many people who have high or even ultra high net worth who dress and act just like anyone else on the street. They wear jeans and drive Toyotas.

Surveys of billionaires are easy to track because they almost always have huge sums of stock holdings that must be reported in company filings.
