Can anyone please provide a list of the extracurriculars offered at JHU?
At the very least, can anyone tell me if they have Debate?

They won the national championship last year. They hold tryouts and they are somewhat selective (~15% accepted, which is higher than Yale). They also have mock trial, but I don’t know how strong the team is.

Keep in mind that the link posted above just lists the student groups participating in the Student Activities Fair. There are many other groups that are also active on campus, but are not a part of the fair - like many affiliated with the Center for Social Concern ( [JHU Center for Social Concern](http://jhu.edu/csc/) ). Also, if there somehow isn’t a group that suites your interests, it’s very easy to create one - all you have to do is fill out a form!

And I must agree with al6200 - our debate team is outstanding.

This year, over 100 people tried out and about 12 made the cut. There’s a quite a few freshmen on the team, maybe about 8 to 10 freshmen. It’s about a 2-5 hour time commitment every week (depending on how much time you want to devote to it) and tournaments often take place all day on Fridays and Saturdays.

What about JHU theater groups? If I’m accepted I really wanna pursue amateur acting :P

There’re are loads of them on the list and one that particularly interests me is an impromptu comedy group. Plus, Gomez Addams (played by John Astin) from the Addams family is the head of the theater department!
