If someone has taken self-paced online courses via John Hopkins’ CTY, Stanford’s EPGY, or similar programs, which do have grades and a transcript/academic record, and these courses do NOT appear on their high school transcript,
- Should these transcripts be sent to colleges?
- Should these courses be listed on Common App, and if so where/how?
- Does the answer to 1 and 2 change depending on whether the course was taken before/after entering high school?
Also, by EPGY, I am not referring to Stanford’s Online High School (which is a fully accredited school) nor the residential summer program.
Yes, you can send copies of the transcripts to colleges. At my kids’ high school (private), the GC asked us to get official transcripts from the programs, and then the GC provided them to the college. But if your high school doesn’t do that, you can send them yourself. Colleges prefer official transcripts if you can get one, but some programs may not have those. Send what you can get.
Regarding the Common App, one place you could put the info is in the additional information section.
You really should only out courses in since you entered HS, unless you earned high school or college credits for them.
