Can you add or list EC’s from the past? Past as in before high school, during middle or elementary school, doing something at home as a child (10-year-old).
I guess njhs.
No. The only way my kids did was mentioning in their essay something they had started at that age and carried into high school. Example: one of my kids monitored a bluebird trail for many years, including through HS, and talked about having hatched over 300 bluebirds into our neighborhood over those years. Another started studying an unusual foreign language at the age of 7, and eventually took HS credit classes in the language (via a summer program) and spent a HS summer in the country. But most activities and accomplishments from pre-HS don’t belong on the application. If your glory days were in middle school, that doesn’t help your app.
not even clubs from middle school ;_;
Unless it’s the situation described by @inparent of an ongoing activity, it would be a mistake to point to something that happened years ago to highlight what makes your kid special now. The possible exceptions may be some extraordinary or unusual achievement along the lines of winning the National Spelling Bee or being some relatively successful child actor. Just being in some club, no. If it is a club/activity that your kid is still heavily involved in, it may be worth mentioning in the essay or narrative on the activity, but I would not list as a separate EC.
Unless it is something huge (ex. Olympic medal, National Spelling Bee Champion etc.) I would not include any pre-HS achievements on a college application.
