My son has done a bunch of these academic competitions and the team always places well. It seems that listing the results under "academic honors" on the common app might be overkill because there are too many details when it involves 4 or 5 events (date, finished XXX out of XXX teams, etc). He is thinking of putting that in the additional info he plans to provide regarding EC's. What do you all think? Is it a mistake not to list them as awards?

I participate in Quiz Bowl and Science Bowl, and I just listed them in the activities section of the CommonApp.

I'm the same as waterbed

It depends. If quiz bowl is a true passion for him like it is me, then you’re best off putting his results from HSNCT or something like that. If not, put it under activities.
